Make it do or do without!

Well.  I did not have enough of the horizontal plaid sashing fabric, and so....I made do!  I had another plaid, but not enough to make 3 inch vertical sashings, so I pieced them.  Different!  But then again, I am a bit rebellious too!  LOL!
 A close up.
I tried to catch up on the Meeting House quilt along. I think I am going to change that bordered block...it seems to not belong in there.
Just a week pincushion from the scraps....

And how are you today?  What do you have going on?

OK, so I changed sheets, vacuumed, straightened up, scrubbed the kitchen floor, did laundry, dishes...  If someone want to come over and dust for me, I will do anything for you!  Bathrooms, windows, whatever.  Come on over!!!!  LOL!!  I try really hard and make extensive, exhaustive lists about what I should do next...and darn it, it is never picture perfect.  How do you keep your house clean??

Keep my house clean? What? I'm a quilter. I have no time for that nonsense. :) (I like your creative sashing. Looks good to me!)

I tend to roll along slowly, one room at a time, so the whole house is rarely all good at the same time :)

Cleaning is the pits, it is never done! I potter along and do bits here and there, and don't bust my boiler over it, because nobody is going to remember me for my cleaning, but they will enjoy a quilt I made.

if you find someone who wants to dust send them my way LOL -- why do I hate that chore and let the dust build up so much it is crazy -- love your scrappy sashing

Dust?! Are you kidding?! If we return to dust at the end of our lives I might be disturbing some of my relatives! If it doesn’t make me sneeze I ignore it. Great solution on the sashing. It really fits with the antique inspiration.

I avoid dusting whenever I can. I usually give the shelves and tables a lick and a promise. Nice adaptation on the sashing - it looks great.

Your sashing worked out well. As for housekeeping, dusting here doesn't happen often. With 2 dogs and a hubby who leaves the doors, etc, open and brings in leaves, etc, on his shoes, I can dust and an hour later it doesn't look like I've dusted. Oh well.

I'll dust if you vacuum! LOL. My house gets a lot of sunlight, my pug sheds a lot, my sofas are white --then there is sand and windblown issues. I do clean as often and as best I can.

I love how you did the plaid sashing! For the T block that looks too heavy, maybe just remove the dark border and replace it with the fabric of the background? Or wait til all the blocks are done and then decide.

I hardly ever dust. I live in Greece and have all windows and doors open for about 6 months a year! An hour after dusting it's the same again. But... I have a cleaning lady who comes once in a forthnight for 4 hours and she dusts. I pay her from the money I make by selling patchwork bags, runners and other small stuff. I think that that is an extremely good deal!!!!! Cleaning ladies are not expensive in Greece.

The sashing is perfect! You always come up with a solution that works beautifully, the true mark of a scrap Quilter! I don’t - ant keep my house 'clean', not like in the old days. Domestic chores get done when they get done. The obvious areas like kitchen and bathroom are kept up with, but dusting, etc. is often overlooked far too long.

My house is immaculate at the moment...put your house on the market and it has to be! I just hope it sells soon so I can go back to being messy, my husband is having a hard time keeping up with the cleaning! Yes, he does all the cleaning anymore because I have chronic pain from shingles along with a few other chronic conditions and just can't. The only thing I still do is dust! LOL

With 2 dogs my house is rarely clean! But my dishes are NEVER stacked up in the kitchen and I do straighten up before going to bed.

Love how you changed the size of the sashing!! Creative quilting!!

Ah, yes the old Yankee adage that I was raised with! Your improvisational piecing is commendable. Housework here has been doled out in fits and starts as my son and his family had moved in while their home was remodeled; I simply couldn't make any headway. No excuses today, they've moved back home and I need to get back at it-- BIG time!

The best make-do looks are always a result of actually running out of fabric. You go girl! And cleaning has become dash and stash when we are having company. I keep saying I'm going to go back to a good system, but I never, ever do...

Great sashing solution Julie. I dust before I vacuum so it’s just all one chore. Having friends or family over to visit is the great motivator:D

I don’t enjoy housework and am never caught up, but I have found an easy way to dust: you need a really nice feather duster. I bought two several years ago from FlyLady. One has a long handle and one a short handle. The long handle is great for baseboards, under chairs, and stairs. The other one is good for table tops, shelves, etc. The dusters have long delicate ostrich feathers. (Makes cleaning steps so easy, just “sweep” with the duster, with one swipe on each step start at the top and move it all down to the next step and then vacuum or sweep up at the bottom.) I had much rather be quilting....

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
