What a pretty heifer! Dearest Boy final block!

Tada!  Here is our final block for our quilt-along, "Dearest Boy."  She is a really a heifer of great vanity.  She really wondered, for this pose, if she should wear her plain halter and bow, or
A flower necklace!  For dignity's purpose, she chose her plain halter.  She still knows she is cute!!!!

The top is coming together, as this is the final block of the center!!!!

What fun it has been to sew with friends...please see the following blogs to see their heifers, or whatever block they are working on!!!

Quilt show!

There was a local quilt show today!  I entered my Monterrey Medallion quilt.  No ribbons, but it was such fun to see it hanging up there!
 My green medallion quilt.
 My friend Sandy's Monterrey medallion.
And another one, by my friend Marilyn, using a different layout.  We all made our own version using the same pattern.  Marilyn hand quilted hers!  I saw very, very few hand quilted quilts.
I loved this sampler; isn't it pretty?
Here is the info about the maker.
And this one would be fun to make too!
And the maker's ribbon and information.
This was the Grand Champion quilt.  It deserved every honor it got!!  Wow!
And the maker information.  It was very densely machine quilted.
And lastly, this is my friend Sharon's quilt.  She won a blue ribbon!  Hurrah for her Monterrey Medallion!!!

Lots more to come,

Scraps are the absolute best!

I purchased a scrap bag from a local quilt shop, for $5.00.  In the bag were strings and pieces, just a bright bunch of pretty fabrics.  SO...…...I decided to use the scrap bag, in addition of some of my own scraps, to duplicate the quilt below, but bigger.  Here is my start.  This quilt is not easy in some ways, but delightfully easy in others.  So on I go!!!
That little yellow sheet of paper was my note to myself, from twenty years ago, to me of today!  Thank you old self!  I wrote down the measurements for the blocks, LOL!
I have been playing with scraps.  I love this, but it just does not grab me enough to make a whole quilt.  Maybe plaids or repros?  Still thinking about this one!
I am hand quilting this one...Rosie the poodle is inspecting.  She is not really sure if it is up to her standards.
More work on this block!  Loving it!
I added a scrappy binding after hand quilting this little quilt.
I added this binding, and just need to hand turn it under and stitch it down.
Isn't this the prettiest thing?  I admired this hand crocheted beauty, and the darling Nina sent it to me!  I love it, and it got here on my birthday!  Perfect timing!

That is about it from my house...

Dear Jane update!!!

Happy Sunday to all of you!!  I finished hand quilting and binding this quilt.  Hurrah!  I then washed it and it shrunk about 5 inches in width and height.  Wow, lots of shrink, but it has that old fashioned crinkled quilt look about it, and it very soft, being made from all old plaids and plains.
This is my Dear Jane quilt block for this week.  I used paper piecing, applique and regular piecing techniques.  All of these little blocks are challenging, but on I go, one a week!!

Please see the quilters below, who are working along too...and we have more joining up!!

I always drag this old round table topper this time of year...a dusty old sunflower, because it is so hot here!  The label on the back says I made it in 1997.  22 years ago!

I am linking to Kathy...for a little slow stitching!!

So which one do you think is better??

I made this quilt long ago, in the the matchy-matchy days of the early 1990's, I think.  Or was it the 1890's?  Haha!  Anyhow, I always have wanted to make this quilt again, bigger, though!!
I made this block yesterday, and I just drew out the pattern from the original block, because the original pattern is long gone.
But I was thinking....is this version less cluttered, more whimsical?  Or is the above block better?

What do you think, friendlies???

Have a great day!

Dear Jane update!

I finished this quilt top!!!  Hurrah!  I had always wanted to remake this quilt, lots bigger...wow, did I ever do that.
The borders were the most fun to make, and the fact that I made the entire quilt from scraps.  I love that part!
Lori, I just love this block, and I re bordered it.  The pink is very pink is real life...just playing here!
This was an orphan block, so I layered it up and quilted.  YES!  on my domestic machine, and there are no puckers.  Please note this fact down in the record books, please!!

DEAR JANE update.  I did work on it yesterday, but it was cutting all the five inch sashing strips, so nothing photo worthy...but I did accomplish something, anyway.

Please take a look...these quilters are working on Dear Jane, too!

Hexies, rainbow quilts and plaids!

Good morning to all!!!  Above is a hexagon, for English paper piecing.  My kitten Lucky has discovered them, and decided that they are great...
