Comments!

A large tree fell over with a mighty crash, half a block from our home.  We are all grateful that it fell toward the street!  If you can zoom in, you can see the little people on the left side of the picture. The homeowner is actually one of my heart patients, for years now.   We have had a lot of rain, which loosened the ground around the tree...and we saw very little root system supporting this gigantic oak.

Lucky is helping me today, with dusting and playing with the chandelier.  He is so much fun!!  He is up on the dining room table, the stinker!!

The art...and the artist.  Hee!!!  He had such fun with my big stitch quilting thread!!

And some quilting content!  I am sewing some of my 2.5 width pieces, for a simple rail fence quilt.  I find these old fabrics to be like old friends, coming around to visit.  I love them!!! The inspiration of this is a lady who presented to our local quilt guild.  I loved her on sight...just a sweet, darling lady!

Here is her website.  She made a quilt like this, too, and I have made some in the past.  Time to sew another one, and it is so quick to complete!

HEY!!  I think I fixed my comment problem!!  Would you be so very kind and honor me by commenting on this post, so I can see if the comments are coming to my email once more?  Thank you so much!!

Julie

Hello Julie, I don't know if I've ever commented before, but I love reading your blog and have done so for years. Thank you for sharing your notes: quilting, nursing, or otherwise. I really appreciate it.

That tree is huge - so glad it went onto the street - with nothing under it at the time! Lucky is beautiful, cats are such fun they so enjoy playing - much like lots of humans. Anywhere they aren't supposed to be that's just where they want to go. We've had end to end rain in England this winter, now we have sunshine and a north to north east wind instead - not sure if that's an improvement. I had fears that my large cherry tree might fall it's been so wet. So far it seems solid. Love the blog, Elaine in UK

How sad that big, old tree fell. Glad no one was hurt. Lucky is adorable even if he’s a little naughty!

Yes, comments are definitely working! I’m so glad the tree fell toward the street. I worry about that, too, living among large trees in hurricane country. And I love the photos of Lucky enjoying his life. Dot in NC

How unusual for an oak tree to be felled. They are usually deep rooted. Thankful no one was injured and no structures damaged. Did you lose power? Your kitty is frisky isn't she (or he, I don't recall).

I think the rail fence quilt is going to make someone very happy - scrap quilts are so cheery. Too sad about the three falling. I'm glad no one got hurt.

Blocking the street is certainly preferable to smashing through the roof! A nearby guild hosted Diane via Zoom last month and I attended the next day's Zoom workshop. I was a participant it a Quiltmaker project that she supervised. It was fun to meet her in person (sort of) after all these years.

Yes, it's fun to revisit fabric that has been resident in the studio for a while.
