Farmhouse Sampler progress

Good morning to you! I am off to work in a few moments, but wanted to show you my Farmhouse Sampler, that Karen and I worked on last year.  The applique is finished now, and I am sewing the quilt together.  In the original pattern, there are no sashing pieces, but you know me...I like to make quilts that are a  little bit different and original.  So here is my progress so far.
Fun blocks!

A lovely lady at work is from Calcutta, India.  She wanted to give me some clothing to put in quilts.  Don't you think those elephants are so fun?
Here is what she gave me.
Lovely detail on the cuffs of this long top.

This is a sari.  Is that spelled correctly?  Anyway, it is large rectangle of hemmed cloth, designed to be draped into a beautiful dress. I just love it!  She has many silk ones that she would like to give away, as well.

This is an example of what she looks like in her saris.  She draped me in one, and I felt like a princess!!!  Love it, and thank you, Manisha!!

Your quilt is stunning! I love the sashing! And those fabrics from India will be gorgeous in a quilt!

What beautiful details in your applique quilt! Your sashing just sets the blocks off so beautifully. How fun to receive a new type of fabric from your friend! The Indian designs are so intricate and the silk sari looks beautiful in the picture you added. Silk is definitely a warm weather fabric for clothing. I look forward to seeing what you come up with to make from the clothing!

Your sampler quilt is sweet with the skinny sashing and tiny cornerstones! Congrats on another beauty. I’ll look forward to seeing what direction the clothing pieces take.

Those elephants are cute. I used a sari (from the thrift store) as backing for my crazy quilt. I fused some fusible stabilizer onto the back of the sari to give it some stability.

So love your sampler, and I like the addition of sashing. Beautiful sari fabrics. What a lovely gift.
Hope you have received your vaccine. Think about you at work. Happy weekend!!

Putting that narrow sashing around your beautiful applique blocks frames them in a subtle way. You're the perfect person to come up with a plan to use those fabulous fabrics.

That quilt top is coming together beautifully. I like the sashing effect!
What fun elephants! You received some wonderful pieces--and your own sari? Lucky you! I had a friend in junior high who was from India and she wore a sari every day to school. I thought they were lovely!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
