End of month applique update, and my monthly mini for February!!

Good morning, everyone!  February is in the rear view mirror, and here we are at March.  This year is flying by, in my opinion!!  Above is my applique block for Mrs. Lincoln's Sampler quilt, that I am making along with Cathy.  Cathy blogs here:  Big Lake Quilter: February Month End (wwwbiglakequilter.blogspot.com)  She is an amazing applique artist!!
Here is my pieced block for this month, too.
I made this mini quilt for February.  This one was made of leftovers (the center portion).  The little flying geese were fun!! I really like this little quilt pattern, and have made three and given them away, so I made this one for me.   Please see Wendy, at the Constant Quilter, for more mini quilts! (our leader)
Is there anything better than plaids...and scraps....and hearts?  Oh be still MY heart!!!  I am making some quilted hearts, because it was February, and because I love them, and because my string quilt needs some hearts included in there.

I made more of these blocks...unsure of what they will become, but I like making them!!!

**************************A personal note*****************************

My dear sissie passed away 2-28-21 of Parkinsonian Dementia.  She had this 14 years...a lot of her life.  She was a brilliant woman, living on a farm, raised two lovely girls, and working as chief book keeper at our local bank.  As the chief repository of family history, she will be sorely missed, as well as for her sweet heart.   She was a seamstress, and quilter, and a wonderful cook.  My heart hurts a lot, and I know she is now at peace, free from the suffering she has endured for so long.

Oh Julie, I am so sorry to hear about your sister. My heart hurts for you. I am sending you hugs from afar. On the quilting front, you and Cathy make me dizzy with all that you accomplish. I love your monthly mini. Thanks for sticking with it. Hugs to your whole family in this time of sadness.

I'm so sorry you lost your sister. Watching her fight this lingering illness must have been hard too. My sister died last October. It's odd having someone walk out of your life that has been there the whole time. I'm not sad as much as I'm lonely. I love the framed hearts. I keep wanting to make a heart quilt, maybe it's time.

Oh, dear, dear Julie--when I read your personal note my heart stuttered! We know she suffered and isn't suffering anymore, but that doesn't fill the hole her passing leaves in your heart. My prayers are with you, and her family, to be able to feel the comforting Spirit of the Lord as she moves forward free of the debilitating disease that has plagued her, and as you try to move forward without her presence. Love you, dear friend.
Of course, your quilt needed hearts! I think of pink and hearts as symbols of you and the love you shower on others always.
Your mini is adorable, and the blocks you aren't sure where you will use them--they are great. You will make them shine somehow!

Julie, I'm so sorry for your loss. A sister is such a dear treasure. The bittersweet knowing she is finally free from this earthly torment but not with you. I know she blessed the world for being in it. Praying for your comfort.

Julie, I don’t know what to say, but wanted to acknowledge your sister’s passing. Such a mixed blessing to know she is no longer suffering but your sister is gone. I hope your blog comments give you some comfort. Sending your a big hug.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
