Electricity is back on!!

The electricity was off today...so it was not a machine piecing day for me, LOL!  I did other stuff instead; like choose these plaid quilts to go to the quilt shop.  My local quilt shop is getting a bunch of new plaid fabrics in, and the ladies asked if I had any plaid quilts I would be willing to lend them for a display.  Yep...I think I can do that, LOL! I just chose little ones, so they would not have to deal with a big quilt in their little display area.
With no heat, no lights...what should I do?  I opened the blinds for light and dove headfirst into the 1.5 inch scrap bin...and cut, and cut, and cut!  A zillion little squares, for a postage quilt...someday.
And a bunch of little squares for bowties....someday.  This took me hours, and hours,  and hours...and it was great fun and very relaxing.  Then the electricity came back on, and somehow stress came back, and the call of house cleaning and planning dinner, etc, came back into my head with the lights!!
Hey, would you like to barter?  If anyone would like this book, I will swap it for some scraps or strings!  I truly do use my scraps and strings up.  I love them!  I get misty eyed over scrappys!!
How about this group?  Same thing goes!  Let me know if you want to do this...first come, first served...

Have a great day, all!!

Julie

It's nice that there are parts of quilt making that don't require electricity. Glad you still had a productive day.

I got scraps, 2 1/2" squares already cut-----if you want I'd gladly take the snowman book.

I had to laugh at your "power out" experience. I had one last week--power off for 6 1/2 hours on my "stay home and sew" day. I moved to a window and cut and cut until I had to sit down. Then I did a little hand stitching until the light was all gone.
I don't need any of the books (getting rid of some myself), but I'll send more scraps soon!

Those quiet days are sometimes the best!
I would be interested in the book about stenciling if it's still available. I have some scraps you might like. I ordered some samples from a new quilt site I found for homespuns. The prices are good and I had thought of sending you some to try out. I've been sewing with some of your scraps today :-)

I would be interested in the Snowflake Threads book if available... or if the first person who mentioned it doesn't work out. Not that I really need another book, BUT, you know how it is! And, I have a whole lotta' strings that need a home! Even if the book is already gone, drop me a note and I'll ship you some scraps!

Nobody mentioned the stencil book. What is in it? What size scrappy strips? Do they need to be plaid?

I'm still working on getting an accumulation of scraps ready to send again. Share with other's if you do not want all of them. Still have your address. From northern Iowa.

That's great you found something to do while the power was out. I would have needed an iron though!

Julie, I want to say I have a shoebox full of 2 1/2 strips you can have..not barter as I don't need anything else...let me know and we can get together. They are not plaids, however!

How fun to loan your quilts to the quilt store for a display! Sounds like you found a good way to quilt even without electricity.:)

The quilt shop is going to have a run on plaid fabric once their shoppers see your beautiful quilts.

Glad your power was restored.

Such beautiful little quilts. Your LQS is lucky to have you LOL. You sure know how to keep busy with or without electricity. Wish you live near me because that's the part I like the least; cutting.
If you have any books left, I'm in. Let me know if you need/prefer a color more than the other.

Love your little plaid quilts and the quilt shop sure turned to a great person from whom to borrow some beauties! Good idea to do the bartering. I have a ton of patterns I know I'll never use...wonder if I can use that method to get them into homes that would appreciate them?

I sure do not miss those power outages in the freezing cold! We are having a rainy morning and I can hear the ocean roaring in the background ....not close enough to see it but I can sure hear it!
Looks like you'll have some good scraps coming your way :0)...I'll have to try that on my blog.

Happy Sewing, spring is coming!
