Hi Everyone! I have been a good little patient, only doing the exercises approved by the doctor, not lifting, and walking a lot. but...he did not say I couldn't sew by hand!! So I have been! I finished up appliqueing my tulip quilt top (on top on the Carolina Cosssroads, so it is showing through). It needs a good pressing! Just needs an outer border and it is ready to be quilted.
And, in honor of those Amish quilters I so admired on our recent trip, I had to put together a little Amish-colored trip around the world, right? I saw so many of this style quilt in Lancaster. I love the colors! It is layered and pinned and ready to be hand-quilted in black thread. This is like Bonnie from Quiltville's bargello quilt she showed some time ago, in these colors, except hers was big.
And...I got my quilt back from Darcie (quilting by Darcie), who quilted it for me! My "Colorado/Carolina Crossroads" is done except for hand-stitching the binding. Cool, huh!! The wonderful quilting and design made this quilt...I feel I was just along for the fun ride! I love it so...
I have not posted for a while, but will get back at it now. I feel almost no pain in my back now. Hurrah for surgery! Physical therapy starts in earnest next week. I am going to experiment with my first soap-making, so hopefully I will have a product to show you soon.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!

I'm glad you are recovering so well and you are getting an amazing amount of sewing done!
Congrats on feeling better, I'm sure it must be such a relief for you. I love your CC quilt, and yes the quilting just makes it. Your tulip quilt is stunning and the little Amish quilt is adorabe. You may have been quiet, but gosh you sure have been busy.
Lovely news that your back is so much better. Your applique is inspiring me! I have two months' of the Hearts A-Flutter BOM completed after seeing your block in progress earlier (but not nearly as nice as yours).
I love the sashing in your CC quilt! And that tulip quilt is just beautiful! I'm so glad the surgery went well and was successful :)
Glad to hear your recovery is going so well. I like how your CC turned out, the red sashing and stars.
Glad to hear you are feeling better..your Crossroads quilts is just stunning...you have been busy with the tulips, they are lovely.
Way to recover! Do what you're supposed to and still do what you want - clever girl. Love the tulips, and your Amish colors are right on.
You quilts are beautiful. I love how soft and peaceful your tulip quilt is.
Ah, the miracle of modern medicine. Good for you to be almost pain free! Your quilts are beautiful, every one of them. Thank you for sharing! Good luck with the physical therapy, too!
Good news that you are on the road to recovery. I simply love your yellow and white quilt. Fantastic applique.
You are ready for spring with that tulip quilt. So pretty, nicely done. Sounds like you are enjoying the sights and sounds of spring as well, you have me dreaming of spring.

I'm glad you are able to do some sewing already. The tulip quilt is very pretty. That is one of my favorite settings. The Amish quilt is a wonderful remembrance of your trip. Much better than a post card. *S*
Dear Julie,
So much to comment on. I really like the quilting on your Crossroads quilt. Neat design. Is it a freemotion design or a pantograph?
The Amish TATW is cool, too. Do you have a place picked out for it already?
I'm also glad to hear that your back is much better and recovery is going well. Good for you.

I love the Amish quilts too and you did a great job in choosing the colors for your trip around the world quilt. It really looks like a true representation of an Amish quilt.
It's like a whole new you has been given a new life. Back pain seems to be one of those thing that we often brush off and try to medicate through. I'm so happy for you that you're living without so much pain now.
