progress report

Howdy y'all!

I meant a lady who really spoke like that today.  I loved talking to her!!  Above is my progress on my quilt of valor.  Only three more rows to go!!  Whoop!

I have a whole new quilt cut out, and ready to go! I have more blocks made now...this is a variation of Bonnie Hunter's Spider and the Fly, found right here!

Spider & The Fly Digital Pattern (quiltville.com)

Annie and I are making this quilt, as part of our donation quilts!

And I am still sewing away on my solid colored fabric bin...getting down on those fabrics, and that is a lovely thing!!

Ooo, I'm liking how that QOV's looking. Gonna be a beauty! Most of Bonnie's quilts have too many little pieces or those peaky spike type blocks, etc. I made her cute little pumpkin table topper and love it. I'm working on her free Oklahoma backroads scrappy quilt, an easy peasy one.

My husband did 28 years ago. Was operated on and it improved. But only when he wasn’t doing the job that caused it. His trade. For him to make a living in the trade he studied he had to put up with the uneasy feeling. Over the years it has gradually worsened again. We were told years later that sometimes the problem/cause is in the shoulders. He now just has the tingles all the time.

I had carpal tunnel. The doctor wasn’t much help so I looked online. I found Youtube videos that show exercises to do. My favorite was Bob and Brad, physical therapists who make videos on sorts of ailments. They were a BIG help. I can hand quilt again with no problems. They also give dietary suggestions that helped me with menopause and weight loss.

First line of defense on my CT was braces to wear at night. They were like gauntlets, but they worked wonders. I've since replaced them with the smaller grocery store pharmacy variety.

I have been having pain in my left hand. Not diagnosed as carpel tunnel. I have started doing hand exercises as I really don't want the inconvenience of a surgery. It seems to be working well. Many sources on line with hand exerccises.

I had the surgery. I had carpal tunnel and trigger finger where the finger would lock and was very painful to unlock. I have since read of exercises to help. Would try that first.

Yes, I've had carpal tunnel. So painful. Was convinced I'd need (and wanted) surgery, but the doctor said he always tries the cortisone shot first (which sounded to me SO scary and painful!) He had the shot out and in me before I knew it. Wasn't bad at all. And, after a few weeks the pain went away and I've been fine since. The QOV is looking really great!

Yes, I have carpal tunnel. I've had cortisone shots over the last ten years which still work well for me. They last about 6 weeks--then just as you've gotten used to no pain, suddenly you have lots of pain when the shot wears off. It's a problem--but not enough of a problem that I'm willing to have the surgery. I usually only get the shot about once a year at the most. As one of the other commenters has suggested, wearing a brace does help. I started out with a rigid brace. As the pain receded I have been able to wear one of the softer ones that I got at the drug store. My sister went ahead with the surgery and had no problems afterward. She did warn me though to find a great doctor if I intended to have the surgery. If it's your job that is causing the pain (as it was for my sister) then you have to take 6-8 weeks off work while recovering. That may not work out for everyone.

Carpal Tunnel - Diagnosed in 1991 - used braces during the day and sleeping as required when I had it hurting.

Had the surgery in 1998 - then it came back and they kept asking me if I was a Diabetic -told them NO!

In 2017 it came back with a trigger thumb. Had the 2nd surgery - THEN in 2018 I was told I was a diabetic (but they knew in 2015 AND DID NOT TELL ME)!

Moral of the story - if you are not a diabetic and have not had the surgery and want to have it go ahead but get a good surgeon. Then never have it again. Use the braces if you over use your wrists - mine comes and goes and I go for the braces because the nerve will travel up to the neck!

Have a wonderful week-end. If you don't have the braces get them from Walmart until you see a doctor

Half the people in E. TN talk like that. The half that was born here and didn't move from somewhere else. LOL I have carpel tunnel. I've quit doing certain repetitive activities, like crochet, so I can live with it and not have surgery. I love that QOV. Is that one of their patterns? I'd like to make one like it for American Hero Quilts.

I had carpal tunnel surgery (arthroscopic) on both hands in November 2019. It was the best thing I ever did. Before surgery I had constant pain and numbness. After surgery, even with the bandages still on, was pain-free. Numbness was gone everywhere almost immediately, although it took about a month for two fingertips to lose the numbness. The incisions were at my inside wrists, about a half inch long, and are no longer visible. Other than restricting your weight-bearing activities for two weeks (then easing back into them over a month’s time), the healing was easy. Again, best thing I ever did. You can read my posts about it (do a search on the blog for ‘carpal tunnel’).

Ooh, ooh, ooh! I’m glad I’ve finished my cup of coffee, because it’s only 7 a.m., but after reading this post, I only want to sew, sew, sew!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
