Fabrics as old friends!

I have been busily sewing away on this scrap quilt at night.  It is the true definition of scrap...being all of my 2 inch bright strips, from the 2 inch wide bin. Some are fabrics from 20 years ago, ones I recognize and love...and a rare few that were my mom's fabrics...so maybe 50 years old!  I have used all I have of these strips.  I see fabric from old uniform tops; from a square dance dress; from a bonnet from long ago.
Here is all that is left, and it is not much.  I may have to cut a few, just to make the quilt rectangular instead of square!!  The quilt is 68 inches across.  Why this measurement?  I have no idea...just seemed like the right width, LOL!
I finished all the circular applique on this quilt and put the rows together, and I am stewing about the border...always my sticking point!  You know, daily progress is the ticket...work just a little bit on anything each day, and you will achieve your goal.  Anyway, that is my story and I am sticking to it!  I am working on my abs...hahaha!

I made the sashing from these old pajamas...not much left here, LOL!!!
I made another of these blocks...not sure if I am going ahead with this piecing. hmmmmmmm......I have very few black or gray printed fabrics.
I made three of these little mug rugs for my sisters, so I need to get those into the mail.
And here is where I am on Cathy and I project.  Progress is being made!!!

Have a super day, wherever you are!

Hugs from Julie

OK, come on, you can't be working AND sewing that much!! HA The first one with the white in between..that white has be be very narrow and would have driven me nuts. But it looks great and nice that you've used most of your 2" strips. Lots of pretties you're working on!

Some of the items cut up to make pieces for your scrap quilt are rather unique. You truly are a scrap quilter.
Good progress on Mrs. Lincoln. You'll get there and have a wonderful finish one of these days.

You may have to keep that top quilt, what with all the memories in it. My youngest son has a baby quilt from his great grandmother. She used all scraps, and we can pull out some of her quilts and see where those scraps came from. Nice memories.

I think your scrap quilt is absolutely beautiful! It represents a big lot of work! Your other blocks just keep growing, and they are going to make a gorgeous quilt too someday. ---"Love"

Lots of good progress, Julie! I like your theory on just getting in there and doing something. Love, love, LOVE that scrap quilt!! Did you make this "Jelly Roll Race" style?

I know what you mean when you see older fabrics and recognize them as old friends. It's strange , but true. Hahaha Glad you're keeping busy with lots of fun projects.

You are the ultimate scrap quilter, Julie. What a beautiful thing you have created from strips and bits. It is wonderful to behold.
LOL--I love that you have cut up pajamas for sashing. I have an old cotton flannel dress I loved tucked in my sewing room closet waiting for just the right project!
Very cute mug rugs. Do any of your sisters quilt?

Sew Productive! If you choose to do this mission you could make it bed size with a narrower scrappy border in a light grouping of strips, then a wider border in a darker grouping of strips. Burn this after reading.

Love that strip quilt, I may have to try it in a smaller project...

How sweet the mug mats are for your sisters. I love to make small runners and mats and give them away.

Beautiful applique as usual :)

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
