I am greatly enjoying hand stitching on this quilt. It was a quilt along this year, and last year too, by Lori of Humble Quilts. I love it so much...many blocks speak to my heart. I am one of those who clouds up with tears of pride and reverence when the flag goes by in a parade, so I just love this quilt!! The pattern, of course, was by Cheri Payne, but we just kind of winged it and made our blocks our own, with help from Lori with sizes of blocks, for I for one did not have a pattern.
This primitive angel with a tattered flag is a fun block for me.
I like the arrows, and the stars, and the flowers!!
And of course the hearts and the log cabin!!!
I am so grateful for the chance to make this quilt...I would have never chosen this pattern to do by myself. So grateful for each of you, and your unique love and contribution to my life.

Oh this is truly beautiful--I love the Jan Patek quilts--am hoping to make "Santa Claus Lane" this coming year..lots of applique in it so it will be a challenge for me for sure...

So awesome, Julie, and I can't believe you do so much hand quilting. I have to many UFO's to finish without attempting to hand quilt anything (which I've never done and don't plan on it). You are the energizer bunny! HA Merry Christmas!
I'm glad you're having a wonderful time quilting this quilt. I look forward to quilting mine when I've finished a few other tops that are demanding attention. The pattern is actually a Cheri Payne pattern but you have added so much of your personality to this quilt I think you can claim it as your own design. Wish I could come and see it in person.

I love seeing what you did with the pattern. I don't have it, either, but have either subbed something similar, or drawn something like the original to make it. It makes me SO happy when I look at what I have finished, so I understand how you feel about this one. I'm that person, too, the one who can't sing the whole anthem, because I tear up!
