Purple and Green!

There is a sew along going on...the Moda Blockheads quilt along!  It is 48 different sampler blocks, all 6 inches, finished.  Well, you know me...as I had already done two samplers two years running with six inch blocks, I decided to be different.  These are 9 inch blocks (I love the math part), and very different colors of green and purple, instead of the more traditional reproductions that most quilters are using.   I do not have a green and purple quilt, so now I will have one.

One funny thing about this was...I cut out all the pieces and parts ahead of time, and labeled them. Well, I labeled one batch wrong, and ended up with a bunch of miscellaneous parts.  So...that is why I have at least one block that is not the same as the pattern...I just winged it, and made my own block from those parts!
This block is not one of the blocks offered in the quilt along, but I made it, instead of the beehive block.  It stands for four friends at work, when we all used to work at the hospital  Everyone is retired but me!
This is a toad stool in our yard...with my foot in comparison for size.  It was a whopper!!

Have a great day, each of you!

I kinda' wish I had enlarged the Block Heads blocks too; handling those tiny pieces in the 6" blocks is not easy for my old hands! Your quilt will be beautiful, and I like your idea of the four hearts for special friends. I'm wondering; do toads ever really sit on toad stools? That one looks like it might be comfy for a big toad! ....Just sayin'..... ..."Love"

I love purple and green quilts--I have actually made a few in that color scheme. Nice work on your blocks. The 4 hearts is a clever addition.
That is a serious toadstool!

Clever you for upsizing your blocks and I like that you added your own block - make it an original JulieKquilt of course! Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday

I enjoy quilty math, too, and often resize blocks to suit my wants! This will be pretty when completed. I'm not very good at QALs. I begin with good intentions, but seldom keep up.

Oooo!! I love the idea of a purple and green quilt!
I've been saving the blockhead patterns, but haven't sewn any. I'm still struggling with my 365 Challenge blocks - really don't need another QAL! Though I did jump into the Temecula mini...

Many years ago, I was asked to make a Double Wedding Ring quilt in purple and greens. It was to be a wedding gift. Turned out very pretty.

Purple and green is a great combo. Love how your blocks are all playing nicely together.

What a great idea to make the blocks larger! I didn't realize there were so many... I'd better get started on mine! I have yet to decide on a color theme, though. I do love your purple and green idea!
