Disappearing four patch, and a mysterious quilt.

I am making progress on my disappearing four patch. Plaids!  What can be better?

Oops!  I see some misplaced blocks.  I will have to be very careful with this one.

This quilt is a whole cloth quilt, hand embroidered.

It is yellowed and the top edge is frayed, from someone pulling the quilt up to their chin, I imagine.

See the fraying?  It has some small bulges in the very thin batting, which I believe are cotton seeds.  The quilting is absolutely amazing.  The tiniest quilting stiches are throughout and the edge was turned to face and stitched together.

Any idea of the age or provenance?

Have a great day!

You just triggered something for me. Years ago I bought, what I thought was a tablecloth and runner, at a flea market. It was embroidered but not finished. Now, I will get that top quilted and use it. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Your disappearing four patch are so fun with all those plaids. Easy to twist around a few of those blocks. Finishing that embroidered quilt is very nice.

The disappearing four patch will look great. I love the embroidery. That style of design was popular in the 30s to 50s. Such a lovely thing to have.

Your Disappearing 4 patch has turned out beautifully. I really love this vintage piece, how wonderful to have something in your hands worked so long ago. I too wonder about its age. Happy Stitching to you!

I made it as big as I could on the screen to see the details... it's exquisite!
I found a similar one called a "vintage bucilla hand embroidered southern belle bedspread coverlet" here:
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-bucilla-hand-embroidered-16610133
It says the pattern is likely from the 1930's.

Love your quilt in plaids. I only see one block turned awry, but that doesn't mean there aren't more. I just don't see them.
Such a lovely vintage embroidered quilt. How did you acquire it?
Looks like Kathy found some good info for you. I am glad there are smart people to help out. :)

I'm Paula from Colorado, I have been blogging for a while now, and today I felt like I should share my story because I was a victim too. I had endometriosis and herpes virus for 18 years and I never thought I would ever get a cure due to the terrible symptoms I had and this made it impossible for me to get pregnant even after 12 years of marriage, and it was a serious issue. Furthermore, I got to know about Dr. Itua on a Blog Site who treated someone and the person shared a story of how she got a cure and gave her contact details, I contacted Dr. Itua, and he actually confirmed it and I decided to give it a try too and use his herbal medicine. That was how my burden ended completely. My son will be 2 this December, and I am grateful to God and thankful to his medicine too.Dr Itua Can As Well Cure The Following Disease… Cancer, HIV, Herpes, Hepatitis B, Liver Inflammatory, Diabetes, Fibroid, Get Your Ex Back,  If you have (A just reach his on (drituaherbalcenter@gmail.com or order herbs from his herbs store https://drituaherbalcenter.com/shop/)He can also advise you on how to handle some marital issues. He's a good man.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
