I am just the same. Squirrel!! The first I heard the term was in the movie Up, when the dog introduces himself, sees a squirrel, and starts all over again.
I love that block and something I would like to make too. I bet that would be nice with my woolly flannels.

The warmth of the center red hearths really pop amidst the brown logs. Really eye-catching!

Honestly, making a bed size quilt with 1 1/2 inch logs might really be lunacy! Lovely, yes but lunacy as you would be crushed under the weight of it! I love tiny blocks but not sure I would want to sleep under them. Such fun though!

What is it about log cabin blocks that make my heart sing? I’ll try to post a picture of mine today.
I guess I'm just not as looney as some folks, I started my log cabin quilt at least 9 years ago, out of 1 1/2" strips, so just not as tiny. One WOF (width of fabric) from each of my 1800's reprints is what I'm using. So all the colors I have with neutral shirtings mainly for the lighter side. Love yours in the browns too! Mine got put away when we moved and I occasionally would purchase new fabrics representing that era, so would cut a strip each and add it to the project box with the rest of the begun parts and blocks. It will be however big and however many quilt tops when I use up all the strips and pieces... no plan at this time, no hurry either. Finally got back to sewing on it this summer.
Log cabins are so addictive. I could make a new one every year and never tire of them.
