Border is on!! (at least the first one...)

I have made more progress on this quilt.
The pinwheels are now extended out into the borders!
I just need some outer borders, and will call it a day...or a quilt!
I had a day off yesterday, so made apple pies...it is fall time!  Except it is still 90 + degrees here...how about where you are?!

Have a wonderful day!

Jacob's ladder progress!

I have finished 48 blocks toward finishing this quilt!  This is not the final layout, but I wanted to take a picture before Rosie the poodle got on the blocks, because I know that is what will happen as soon as she sees them all laid out!  She wants to help and be in the middle of whatever I am doing.
I still have the next border to make, which will finish up the pinwheel shapes.  Those pieces are all cut and ready to sew.
I had a great walk yesterday, and found a yard sale in the neighborhood.  A lady was selling these bears...for two dollars.  TWO DOLLARS!!  I bought this one. I normally don't like to see vintage quilts cut up to make other items, but it was obvious that this quilt was just worn out.  The bear is quite large; about two feet tall.  The original quilt looks like it is a crazy quilt, and hand quilted in a Baptist fan pattern.
She also has this little Singer sewing machine.  It is a 185J.  It was manufactured in Canada, and weighs a ton.  I bought her too.  She is most definitely a female sewing machine, and she sews just like a dream.  It is about the size of a featherweight, but oh, so much heavier.  I loved her on sight!  $50.00 for her.

Turns out that this lady goes to estate sales, and buys things that are quilting and sewing related.  I am so glad to know her...she has two Janome sewing machines, and is a quilter!  So it is great fun to know that she is close and in the neighborhood!!  She is downsizing and moving to a condo soon.

Have a great day, everyone!!

Rainbow progress...at least a little bit!

I decided to prepare all the string pieced centers for these rainbow blocks, then I can add the colors for each month.
Still three months behind, but I think I can safely say this quilt will be a flimsy this year!  whoohoo!!!

Have a great day!

Day Off on Monday!

I had a day off from work today, and I have just loved it.   I have cut out more blocks for this one...loving the diagonals here!!  And the bonus pinwheels are so much fun to me!
I have been collecting heart shaped rocks for a long time...here is my collection so far.  I would love suggestions about how to frame this collection?  I just put them all out on a piece of batting.  Like love...none of them are perfect hearts, but I enjoy them just the same!  Every walk, I look for heart rocks, and have for many years.
I received the best ever package from Kyle!!  She sent some of the prettiest pieces, already cut, to go in my postage stamp quilt!  Thank you so much, Kyle!!  Click HERE!!  One of these days...I will show you a finished quilt...LOL!

Hope you all are enjoying your Monday!!!

Turning Twenty Monday!!!

Woohoo!!!  I am a Turning Twenty girl today...working on my "Seeing Stars" mystery quilt!!  Here is my progress so far.  I have two little six inch blocks cut out and not sewn yet, so today is the day!!
Here are the blocks for today.   You know the blocks you just love, and think, "I need to make a whole quilt out of those blocks!"  This is one of those blocks.   Hurry and go download them if you are signed up!!

Tricia and I met at the hospital, and we have been great friends since then...take a look and have fun!!

This is an older quilt of mine, but I unearthed it and was just admiring the funky flowers...I love flowers!!  Speaking of beautiful applique, please see Karen's blog HERE.  She blogs at the Log Cabin Quilter and just has the most beautiful applique going on...I love each and every block!
The old crazy quilt that was maybe headed for the trash?  It is finding a bit of new life! I added a vine, and am in the process of appliqueing it down.   The more I do on it, the more I like it.  Have you ever had that experience with a quilt project?

Happy Labor Day, everyone!  I am off work, having worked the weekend.  It has been a quiet day, and I even napped a little!

Happy Quilting,
