Remembering Memorial Day

OK, go and snap a picture of what quilt is on your bed, quick!!  This quilt is on our bed...I finished the binding on my machine, for the very first time.  I have always thought that I would be cheating to do that, but 4-6  hours of hand stitching versus 15 minutes on the machine...the machine won this time!  And the quilt is getting to be used, and that is wonderful!  I really have enjoyed looking at these bulls eye blocks, made maybe 12-15 years ago...from what ever fabric I had, which wasn't much.  Fun!
I pulled this old top out of the closet...It really needs to be finished.  A long time ago,  Keepsake Quilting was selling a pattern for flowered blocks.  I decided I could make a pattern like that too!  Well, it wasn't the greatest success, but at least it is one piece, and needs quilting.  I do like some of the blocks!!
Hee!  See those spider webbish looking strings?  Typical of me!!  This is what I am doing with the little half square triangles I am making...black borders, and then a sashing of some kind.  I like the colors of the scraps!
OK, if you have stuck with the reading of the blog this long, maybe you would like a little pink quilt.  Made of leftover triangle pieces, this little quilt is hand quilted and single fold bound by hand.  If you would like it, please just leave a comment, and I will draw for it at the end of the week.

Hope you are having a wonderful Memorial Day, here in the states...and hope you all take a moment to remember our fallen heroes who gave their all so that you and I could enjoy Liberty.

Love your bull's eye quilt! I have 10 of those blocks I need to do something with. Think I will be digging in the stash to make hourglass blocks now!

Pink is my favorite color, so I would LOVE to have this little quilt.
Thanks for the chance to own it!

Love your cute pink quilt Julie!

And the bull's eye quilt looks great where it should be on a bed! I want all my UFOs cleared out so when you say shall we make this quilt I can leap in with you!

I would love that little pink quilt. It might hurry me up to finish my first ever quilt! Thanks for the chance of entering.

I too will be finishing some UFOs today. Just need to put the borders on not 1 or 2, but 3 quilts. Then they're off to the long arm quilter. Why I get the blocks all put together and then don't finish, I don't know. So close. I may save one to hand quilt, but a few years ago, I realized that I can't hand quilt them all. And I love piecing too much to stop.
Thank you for the chance to win your little pink quilt. I don't have much pink in my stash, so this will be wonderful to win. Thank you.

Your bullseye quilt is charming - I just love the look of a scrappy quilt! The pink quilt woud be a perfect baby doll quilt for my granddaughter.

Love your bullseye quilt! I machine sew all my bindings on. I just can't see spending all the time it takes to hand sew them when the machine does a fine job and as you say, so much quicker. Thanks for the giveaway! I love anything made with HSTs! :0)

Love your quilts - you must have a needle in your fingers 24/7! What would you be showing if you didn't have to work? Have a good Memorial Day.

I have never finished a binding by machine. Heck, I don't even know how to do it! Being the time saver that it is, maybe I should learn how, huh? *wink*

I always love looking at your quilts, Julie because they are so out-of-my-box and so inspirational!

As for your pink little mini quilt, I'd L-O-V-E it! I would hang it up in my studio right next to the other one you gifted me with a couple of years ago.

Happy Memorial Day to you as well.

I have started doing the binding on the machine too. Saves lots of time and then it is done quickly. especially with a charity or kids quilt. It's going to get loved a lot ( we hope!) so it is the best way to go!

Hmmm...I don't know how to finish binding by machine - gonna have to look that up. There are definitely some quilts that I'd love to just get the binding on and done. And I'd be honored to give that little pink quilt a home!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
