Half Square triangles quilt and musings...

HI Y'all!  Above are some of the half square triangles from my current scrap quilt leftovers.  I had fun this morning making a little quilt out of the pieces.  I was just thinking...are we a bit nutty to cut pieces of fabric into tiny bits, only to sew it together again...to make a new cloth?  I was thinking I was a bit tired of piecing..."my shoulder are sore, I need a break, I need to check the laundry, I need to check on dear husband"...I could come up with a thousand reasons why I could not piece on what I was scheduled to.  But add a new idea, something I came up with, like above?  The minutes whirl by, with no tiredness whatsoever!  Does this happen to you??

By the way, I love pink.  I think I just discovered it!  It makes me happy, the subtle girlish pinks, and the in your face fuchsia above...I love pinks!!
My squash are blooming!!  I sure hope I have tons of squash this year!!!

Have a great day, everyone!!

Julie

Sure does...I know exactly what you mean. new ideas energize the mundane!
I didn't plant squash this year. Trying some pickling cucumbers in their spot.

Isn't the mind so powerful!
Pink always make me feel girly, it is a happy colour. No squash here, leaves on the ground, rose hops & a few frosts already.

How large is that very fun, scrappy little quilt?
I lean to the salmony, peachy pinks. Those get me every time!
Our garden is just going in this week. Had frost again two nights ago, with snow in the mountains around our valley. Though some people here plant earlier, Memorial weekend is often the big gardening kick-off in my neck of the woods.

A really good design to use up those scraps.
Good luck with the fruit set on your squash..... let's hope lots of those flowers are female.

I'm glad you took the time to piece it - I think it is fabulous! And I am a new convert to pink. For most of my life, I rebelled against it, but in the last few years I've decided that it is a beautiful color. It is probably being surrounded by guys at home that has changed my mind...

I went through a pink phase a couple of years ago--just out of the blue, so to speak. This year, I'm into orange. Especially orange with fuschia and purple. Brights, baby.

Oh, I'm so jealous of your squash! I see tiny little buds on mine, but the leaves are yellowing and dropping off. Two years ago it was the slugs. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Yea, we might be a little crazy, but it is the good kind of crazy, for sure.

I like the idea of ...
... exposing a little light thru a negative and get a picture.
... tying string with a few knots and getting a beautiful tatted doily.
... throw a few ingredients into a pot and have a delicious meal.
... cutting pieces of fabric and sewing it back together into a beautiful bed covering.
That's why I take pictures, I tat, I cook (and eat) and I quilt. Sometimes I need to switch from one to another to be inspired.
Hope you have a good day also. From northern Iowa.

Definitely completely and utterly mad all of us! Specially the scrappers! But I cannot help but love it!

I am so with you - putting off what I should be doing starting something new....this is how I got so many UFOs - guess you do too!

Its things like these that help us keep our sanity. We all need an outlet for our energy. Ours if pretty and useful. You always make such pretty scrap quilts.

Non quilters might think we're nutty but we don't. I love working with half square triangles and what a great quilt from leftovers.

We should remind ourselves that this is what quilting should be! the hours should feel like minutes. If not we should move onto another project that captures our heart. It is supposed to bring us pleasure. I think sometimes we forget that.

I have many little corners that I have cut off from previous quilts, I guess I better get busy sewing them together..Your projects are really neat.

What a great use for those leftover and bonus half-square triangles. I have a few of those, too! I think most quilters have a touch of ADD and we HAVE to start new projects. I've always been a little suspicious of the quilters who only have ONE project going and they work on it until absolutely complete before starting the next one.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
