Cape May Diamonds!!

Cape May Diamonds! These are the shells and water/sand worn rocks we collected in New Jersey. You can't really tell in the picture, but some of the rocks are actually quartz stones, worn smooth and lovely by the surf. I think this is what is known as "Cape May Diamonds"! Thanks Pat, I called them pearls in the last post. We also found some beach glass, all the sharp edges worn smooth away. The "diamonds" especially sparkle when they are wet. I love looking at these gifts from the sea, and will always remember the pleasure of walking and gathering them.

My Sylvia's Bridal Sampler quilt progresses...slowly...These blocks are so much fun to make! Very small pieces in some of them. Eleven made so far and 140 blocks in all to be made!! Whoop!!!

More adventures to follow...a fun adventure this week is in store! I will tell you all about it this week!!

Have a wonderful day,

Julie

I love odd shells and objects from the sea. Makes you wonder just how old they are.

Good job on the multitude of blocks--they're looking great!

How's Carrie?

Thank you for showing your Silvia's Bridal Sampler quilt. I have been putting it off till I found the right fabric. I see you have done yours scrappy. Great idea!!!!!

I enjoyed your bowl of Cape May Diamonds. We find very few shells on the beaches of Cape Cod. I say it is because the water is too cold this far north.

Glad you enjoyed your trip and are home safe.

Interesting array of ocean gems...so glad you showed us. Your bridal sampler is truly a long time process...any quilt with 140 blocks will take a considerable amount of hours, days, and months....but this one will be worth the time involved.

I love Cape May! I haven't been there in years though. I grew up in NJ and my family still lives there. I am the only one who flew the coop. Someday I have to get back there. I just love the victorian homes. They are my favorite!! Your Sylvia's Bridal Sampler is coming along just beautiful!!

the sampler quilt is so like the Dear Jane quilt isn't it - the blocks look a lot the same. It looks like you are coming along nicely on that quilt.

Loved seeing your bowl of treasures. I have a small sea glass collection...getting harder to find nice sea glass nowadays. Your SBS blocks are looking very good!!! I have just 9 of the 140 done....but I do enjoy doing them.

Treasures from the sea! What a perfect thing to hold memories *VBS* Love that kind of stuff, especially stones. I have many that have followed me home and now live with me on window sills and other places *VBS*
The blocks for Bridal Sampler are looking wonderful! You are doing a great job. Hugs, Finnie

It's hard to resist an interesting rock or shell. I brought home a couple the other day from our beach--first time there this year. You'd think I'd get to the beach more, living in a beach town...

The Bridal Sample quilt blocks are beauties!

The Cape May Diamonds look so inviting to just pick up and rub - I love things like that. Your blocks are really making up nice - sounds like a Dear Jane style quilt.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
