Just a little quilting

Good evening, everyone.  I am working on the first clue for Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt, "Frolic."  Four patches!!!  LOTS of them, LOL!!
So here is my cutting board on the kitchen counter, and I am cutting four patch segments....
and the tail end of the strips got strung across the oven handle!  LOL!!!  It was such a long piece to cut from, and kept falling off the counter...so I improvised, using the oven to hold the strip.
Lori, of Humble quilts, had a challenge...she wanted each person to take an old piece or block, and use it in a quilt....so I dug these hand pieced blocks out of the giveaway pile for guild...and took a look.
See how the block just disappears into the very busy background?
I carefully took one of the blocks apart, and was going to applique it to the background.  But I anticipate these fabrics being 80+ years old, and they were frayed and fragile....so what if I put rick-rack around the edges?  Sure makes it look a bit more modern, doesn't it?

Just playing here...and thinking of the lady who took all those careful hand stitches, to put together these blocks.  I salute her!!

I do love four patch quilts and it looks like you are onto a wonderful start.
I like the rick rack on the star, really nice touch and will help with preserving the edges.

The rick rack adds a special touch to these blocks, and the calmer background does let the stars shine!

LOVE the rick rack! Oh my goodness! Those blocks!! LOL How many of them do you have? If you were going to give them away, I'd love one. If you already have a plan, no problem at all!!

I look forward to seeing more Frolic! I've never seen a Bonnie Hunter mystery I didn't like. She has a knack!!

I'm glad you're rescuing the stars and removing them from the busy red fabric. The white background changes them completely.

Rick Rack is such a fun idea. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I really like how you are placing the star block onto a white/neutral background. It really shows off the star! And the rick-rack is a good choice to cover the edges.

You rock, girl! Asking the oven to give you a hand with the sewing, now that's really ingenious! Bravo!
Ouch! There's a star in that block? Good thing you mentioned it because I couldn't tell. The rickrack is a real sparkler. Again, ingenious! ;^)

Your Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt is going to be great.
And I love what you did with a portion of a quilt... you're courageous to take it apart after not liking your first attempt!
Hope you're having a great holiday season!

Do not forget to preshrink and check the dye on the rick rack! Do both at once in hot water.

Good save on the blocks.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
