I am so happy to sew with them for this quilt, "Dearest Boy!" It is super fun, with stories and letters accompanying each block. I love it, as it reminds me of my childhood on the farm, with that fun cow!!
Randy at Barrister's Block and I have been talking about making a quilt that she recently saw at a quilt show and featured on her blog. The quilt has various sizes of blocks, and I was making some, and then had a small epiphany...I have a whole bunch of blocks, already made, sorted according to size...why not use them!!! Above are the 8 inch blocks.
And here are the six inch blocks. I hope to use some of these in our collaborative quilt, which is a row quilt, vertically! Stay tuned...there is no pattern, so we are just winging it!I hung this little quilt I made a couple of years ago in the foyer, and the hanger is from the owner and designer of Turning Twenty quilts, Tricia Cribbs. It was perfect for hanging this quilt...thank you, Tricia!!
Now if you have hung around this long, you deserve a reward, LOL! Have you ever wanted to make a Double Wedding ring quilt? I bought this pattern and templates, and also this fabric, to make one. I am just not going to get there, so I would like to have a giveaway for this grouping of fabrics and pattern. Just leave me a comment if you would like to be in the drawing.
Have a super day!!
Julie

I welcome having you join in with Cathy and myself on our new adventure.
Your new challenge with different size blocks has a good start. All the blocks will work well with each other. The challenge will be a setting.
I'm so excited about joining Karen and I. Love you blocks for the challenge quilts. Great giveaway. Hugs
That is a great way to begin a new project, sewing along with a couple friends, and the best part- having a bunch of orphan blocks already made that will work in the new quilt! Sweet giveaway,I'll throw my hat into the proverbial ring.
It looks like you are off to a good start with all those beautiful blocks Julie. This will be an awesome quilt once it is finished. Sewing with friends will keep you focused and on track.
I would love to be included in the giveaway. Thank you very much.
I'm leaving a comment .... but don't need the giveaway! I already have a ring ufo! LOL
Still, I do like your idea for using up your stored blocks. Great idea to use them up. Have fun with the new Dearest Boy pattern and I will enjoy seeing your progress.
No blog, but have followed you for years. Quilting since retirement and loving it every minute. Would LOVE to be the winner of this fabulous offer!

Love seeing your projects! Thank you for the opportunity to enter the giveaway. (shirparks@gmail.com)
What a generous giveaway! I haven't quilted since my husband died almost five years ago and am hankering to get started again. Maybe this will be the trick. It looks like most of us would love to be the winner. I adore the idea of using orphan blocks in your new project. Orphan blocks often remain orphans. Also, I love the wall hanging you have in the foyer. I like that pattern also. I like how you incorporated different colors and even some gingham background fabric. It is a cheerful hanging. I've even been thinking of trying to do some applique to get started on a quilt again. Thanks for sharing today. I love the inspiration.
I've never wanted to make a double wedding ring... it's too hard!
But those fabrics would be great for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!
Looking forward to seeing how your quiltalong projects develop!
I would love to make a Double Wedding Ring quilt, but don't know what life time I will make it. I wanted to make a New York Beauty and started one last week, also have a couple Bonnie Hunter's that I started in Des Moines, last month. Have purchased several Judy Niemeyer patterns that I could do also. Then still working on my English Paper Piecing (hand work). Then babysat the grandkids (5, 3 and 10 months) over the weekend. Need more hours in a day, more days in the week. Take care, Robert, from northern Iowa.
I happened to have the etsy page open for Dearest Boy, and at the time it showed sold out. About 30 minutes later as I was about to close the window, there were 2 available! What a fun quilt, and we'll see where it leads me. I know I have a lot of ufo blocks as well, and that is a great idea to use them.
Always exciting starting a new quilt! I am starting one too.....although very different to yours, but we will have fun!
Love watching you make Early American Life. Dearest boy looks like a lot of work, but cute! would like to be in the drawing.
You always have such fun projects going on. I love the fabrics you have for the double wedding ring. I would like to be in the drawing for them. Thanks for sharing all of your ongoing projects as well. Have a great day! K- lkw2x6-apq@yahoo.com
oh I love the idea of modifying the quilt to make it using orphan blocks!!
Thanks!!!
xxxs,
I check your blog every day to see what you have come up with to use orphan blocks or scraps of fabric. I don't know how you work and get this much sewing done, as well as caring for as caring for your house and husband.
You are so prolific! The Dearest Boy looks interesting, can't wait to see what you do with it!
So exciting to watch your progress on Dearest Boy!
A vertical quilt with those size blocks should be interesting.
"Dear Boy" looks like an awesome quilt. Wherever did you find the pattern? It will be fun for you to create it along with Karen and Cathy. Love your little flower quilt and all the blocks. Great idea to put them to use. (I'm not interested in the wedding ring fabric, though, so you can leave my name out of the drawing.)
It will be fun to see what the three of you create with the pattern Dearest Boy.
I like the sound of what you and Randy are doing. An orphan block strip quilt sounds great!
That is a generous giveaway, but don't include me (maybe it is over by now anyway--I am kind of behind). I actually have that same pattern. I started the quilt in a class years ago. I have all of the arcs made and background pieces cut. Just need to assemble it. What is wrong with me that I can't finish these big quilts?
Are you sure you are not going to get to that double wedding ring quilt? I'd love to win but only if you are really sure :0)
Randy has great ideas and what is not to love about using your orphan blocks!
I don't know how you have time to work!
Happy Sewing Julie
I have often been thinking about starting a double wedding quilt, but hesitated because there always were quilts which I had to finish first. Recently I finished two: one for my sister and one for my grandson. Now I have room on my desk and in my head to start something new.
So I would love to be be included into your wonderful give away!
I really enjoy reading your posts: they always surprise me. Your quilts are so creative and lively because of their colors. They inspire me.
