A log cabin variation

Happy Thursday!!  I am attempting to make a quilt like Lori's, at the Humble Quilter. She had the coolest quilt on her bed for Fourth of July...and I asked permission and she granted it, to try and duplicate it!!  If you click on the picture, you can see the colors better.  It is made from leftover shirts and plaid strips.
But as you know, those quilts take on a life of their own!!  So here is where I am.  It is much brighter in person...I am enjoying it so far!
The blocks centers are fun, made of a plaid, almost gingham. I will keep working on this one...
And Rosie is always in on the action!!  My constant little helper...Love her!!

Have a great day, everyone!!

Very patriotic. Of course Rosie loves it if you made it. I love the Humble Quilts blog too.

Oh, does that design take me back! 20+ years ago I saw a similar design in a magazine at the supermarket (fewer rails, I recall). I sketched the block on my shopping list (feeling very surreptitious and clever). I didn't know about scrappy combinations back then so the quilt I made far less lively than yours. It may be time to try the design again!

Lovely! You know I have two loves: scrappy quilts and patriotic quilts. This one is great on both fronts.

That is a wonderful quilt....... I made that same quilt..... It was my first one from a Thimbleberries book......... I used a treadle machine to sew it and quilted it by hand....

You are going to enjoy that quilt and will smile every time you look at it...

Great job...

I know this quilt! Or rather, one kind of like it. I made it years ago and unfortunately it got lost in one of our moves. Thanks for reminding me~ I may have to make another too. LOL Happy weekend!

Lovely Julie. You really know how to use those leftover pieces. Hmmm ... I think I NEED a quilt like that too. On the "to do one day" list it goes. LOL ! Enjoy!! ♥

Love your setting for the log cabin blocks. Now I don't know who to ask for permission to make one--you or Lori!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
