Scraps!! what else??

The bow ties won out!!  I made all the little pieces I was playing with in a previous post into bow tie blocks.  Here are the best of the bow tie blocks.  I struggled with a few, LOL!!  Not put together yet, but soon.  I love using the picture as a tool,  because I see I have too many of one color together.
This is kind of stretched out in the picture, but is a 6 x 6 inch finished block.  I am in the midst of cutting an entire quilt of these blocks.  Scraps, anyone??  I love them the best!
These are about 4 inch finished...tiny log cabin blocks.  I am not sure about the red center...what do you think?  Maybe all browns??  Or orange!!?
Lots of browns and creams cut out for these blocks!!  I am on a huge cutting binge!
And a tiny pinwheel pincushion.  Two inches finished. From a badly pieced block.
Have you seen these blocks?  A disappearing pinwheel block.  Maybe I will cut a bunch of these too!!  Mary from Quilt Hollow featured these a few posts back, on her blog.
The opposite colors...just playing here...

So that is where my mind is, ladies and gents!!   All about the little pieces, the scraps that people might throw away...treasure to this girl!!  I wonder if I will always think about things this way??

Have a great day!!

Julie

You never seem to run out of great ideas, Mary! Love the little log cabins. Red is traditional but mixing in other colors sounds good too. Enjoy!

I believe I'd choose an orange for the chimney. You are so busy ... So productive!

I love those last two blocks, however tiny pieces drive me crazy, my favorite size to work with is 2 1/2 inches

Wonderful scrap projects, Julie!
As Annie mentioned, red is traditional in the log cabin, but orange sounds really good with the browns, to me.
Mary's post inspired me to try that disappearing pinwheel block, too. I like how she swapped the centers around to make it more scrappy.
I don't think I will ever tire of playing with other people's leftovers--I doubt you will either!! : )

Love your opinion about scraps and the projects you make from them.
I love scraps as well and sometimes need to use more thread than fabric.
Greetings,
Sylvia

Red is very traditional for a log cabin center. That's what I would use for a scrappy version.

Non-scrappy quilts are boring!

I love all of your projects!

Love your projects, so yummy all of them. Probably because they are all so scrappy and I love scraps. For the log cabin, I would continue with red. You'll in the end it will look great. Google it up. But if you want to change for a different look I would definitively go with ORANGE! I love orange! Enjoy.

great projects on the go here. I love the little pincushion made from a tiny block! good idea! using red centers is traditional but not necessary! maybe you can vary the colors but I think you will like the hint of red with all the scrappy blocks…..
I am making one too :)
