My latest muse...

Lori from www.humblequilts.blogspot.com took this wonderful picture at the Sister's quilt show. I just fell in love with this! I sure wish I had information about the quilter, she is absolutely wonderful! Do you know? Please let me know if you know!! Special thanks to Lori, who graciously gave me permission to use her lovely picture.

I want to make this quilt, seriously, friends....

Hey, did you notice? I figured out how to LINK to something! Click on Lori's name above and it takes you right to her great blog. I am so happy I can link...I am so backwards, I should have been born in the eighteenth century! Make that the nineteenth, I like the fabrics better in that era...

Oh wow, I have a whole box of plaids and I LOVE that quilt! maybe we can do it together - in a few months!

That quilt looks like what is called a string quilt...done with plaids...then set with 9 patch corners...this would be a great way to use up scraps.

So glad you learned a new techy trick of link names now.

I still don't know how to link names. So don't feel bad. That quilt pic looks like A LOT of super small squares. Beautiful though. If you start making one, post lots of pics!

I agree, that is a wonderful quilt. Congrats on the linking thing too! I love the repro fabrics more then the "modern" ones of today too. I wonder that that really says about us?

It is very effective isn't it? I love the idea of using so many scraps too.

Oh my, I love that quilt, too. I want to make one also. I just love plaids and repros. And scrappy style is my favorite. Thanks for posting it. Somehow I missed it on Lori's blog.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for stopping by to say hi and for sending me encouragement on my new journey to become a nurse. It is great to hear encouragement from those who have gone before me and survived the process! I can't wait to finally become a nurse!

I have been reading your blog for awhile now and greatly admire all of the beautiful quilts that you make! You have such a great eye for color and beauty - you inspire me! I also enjoy hearing about your nursing experiences - the love for your job and for your patients flow out through your writing. Please keep writing about your experiences. I know that you may feel like you have a quilting "journal", and you may not want to bore those who aren't interested in nursing, but it is great to get to know the WHOLE person behind the quiltmaker. It shows your heart - and the person that you are and the love that you pour into every stitch only makes your quilts that much more beautiful!
Blessings to you,
Kymber

Amelia is right, I believe...a string quilt but what a DIFFERENCE to have each block sashed the way this is done....makes it look like it is NOT a string block quilt! I like it a lot!

I am with you, I just LOVE this quilt! If you find out what the pattern is, please share. So glad you can link now, but if you ever need computer help, just do a shout out to all your blogger friends, we can help. By the way, I agree on the fabric, I would choose the same era. LOL!

What a coincidence! I was looking at that quilt in a book last night. The quilt is called Plaid Obsession and it is on page 21 in Strips & Strings by Evelyn Sloppy.
I've had the page marked since I got the book in 2003 and still haven't made it but I hope to one day.

That's a great quilt!!! Oh my goodness. I want for you to make this quilt, too. Just for the joy of it. :) ...and the beauty as well of course.

I would love to make the quilt too! I saw it on Lori's blog and thought it would make a great scrap quilt. I think it would be easy enough to figure out.
It took me quite a while to figure out how to use the links button to where it actually worked. Hurray for you!

Love it! Maybe you should start a plaid quilt along. I would make this quilt in a heart beat!

That is some ambitious project! I wonder if the quilter did it slowly over the years or all at once. Pretty fabulous.

Congrats on your new technical prowess. Someday I hope to learn how to work my photo program!

Now I'm usually a brights person, but I do like the subtleties and structure of that string quilt--it's very comfy-looking.

You are not alone. I cannot for the life of me link something. Can you help me?

Julie, how smart of you to figure out the linking thing. I haven't yet.
I think some of the comments are right. That quilt would be easy to figure out. You would need squares of muslin the size of block you want and start in the middle and work out. Be fast work once you got sewing . Would use lots of scraps. The sashing is easy. I just finished a quilt using that exact sashing and cornerstones. I think you have lots of people to make it right along with you.

I saw this quilt on Lori's blog and just loved it. I've been collecting plaids for a while now. I probably have enough to make a couple quilts....backings too! There's several plaid quilts in Evelyn's book that are enticing. Plaids seem like such a "wintery" type of quilt. Like they should be heavy with flannel backings. Maybe I'll dig mine out and line up a project for this winter.

Oh my, I saw this one on Lori's blog, too, and fell in love. I'm on board for making one from my stash of homespun plaids. Probably won't get started until fall though. I'll be watching your progress.

Lots of things going on!

Good morning, or evening to you!!!  I have been sewing pouches of different sizes, and I enjoy filling them with different things and giftin...
