Hello to everyone! Work was slow today after the holiday weekend, we only had a very few patients, and THEY SENT ME HOME EARLY! It was a gift, a gift of time! Felt weird at first, but then I thought, I can work on the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler blocks. I really enjoyed the hour and a half of not worrying, not thinking... just doing, and I finished these three blocks. The hexagon one is a gift from Lyn at www.bluebirdquilts-lyn.blogspot.com. Thanks Lyn, it is appliqued down and trimmed!!
Hope you have a gift of time for yourself this week too!!

Oh Julie...what better gift than that of time.....Lucky you...and you put it to good use I see!
I love the rare occasion of leaving work early! It's like found time in my day- a gift indeed! Very pretty blocks.
Hello Julie, what a wonderful gift.....time.......I was worried that the colours I chose would not fit in with your colour scheme....Julie I think it fits...hugs lyn
Getting a un-expected chunk of time is really a gift. That applies even if you are retired. Getting to do something you really enjoy just added to the sweetness.

Your blocks for the sampler quilt are looking very good, Julie. How nice to get sent home early once in awhile like that! (And I know that you more than make up for it at OTHER times in work where the pace can border on insanity!!!)
Isn't it great to get that little bit of time that was unexpected. Sometimes you wonder what to do with it, but I think I would have done the same thing as you, sew!
Hello to you! I'm behind here. :< I'm happy to read you were sent home early. That ROCKS!
Your blocks are beautiful. I think I mentioned I was going to enjoy this SBS creation of yours - bigtime! The hexagon gift is divine and the other two are exceptional ~ diggin' the fabrics you used!
You hit on something here, too. That time. Being in the moment just doing. Like a meditation. It is a meditation actually.

Time really is a gift. About 7 or 8 years ago, Hubby and I chose to stop wrapping gifts for one another under the tree, instead we give the gift of time. We look for ways to spend time together, sometimes at home just watching something mindless on television - others an evening out or even a weekend get-a-way. I'm so glad we made the decision *s*
Great blocks Julie!
Ah. The gift of time. It always fits...and can never be taken back. Truly a rarity...and a treasure! You used your gift well, Julie! Good for you. ;-) Such pretty blocks!
Stay cool!
Hugs.
And you used it so wisely, not wasting a moment cleaning anything or doing an errand but quilting and feeding your soul!
Sent home early for good behaviour! How lovely.
Your blocks are looking good. I see the book you are using - ( Elm creek Quilts )and had wondered about that book. Would it be a good book for me to get for our club library with lots of different blocks in it? ( is it easy to follow? ) What size are the finished blocks?
Hey Julie. thanks for visiting great blocks and so glad you got to have the "gift" of time.. Ihear ya sister on that.. great blocks wonderful blog. Love your header quilt!!
What beautiful bocks Julie! How fun! What could be better then a bonus in the form of time to quilt? Okay, there may be a few things, but quilting time is always a bonus!
Time really is a gift! I have had fun reading here, catching up on your last posts. Love those little cosmetic bags.
A break from work..how very nice in deed! Great blocks.
