Ok, so here is where the math figures in to my post. Have you ever made a round, bucket type bag? So how do you figure out the size of the pieces around the bag?
Measure the round part on the bottom. My model was a 10.25 inch across the middle dinner plate.
So: 10.25 x pi (3.14) = 32.2, approximately. Add a seam allowance and there you are!!!
I loved my geometry class, with Dr. Conner. He was a amazing little man, maybe 5 feet tall, with kind brown eyes, and a twinkling smile. I loved how much fun he was, and he helped me love math of all kinds!!!

Enjoyed your post Julie. I loved Maths at school.
Love your bucket bag. That math wasn't too hard. Your squirrels have heading off in a fun direction. Its good to try new styles and colors.
I loved algebra - geometry NOT so much. If only I had known then that I would grow up to be a quilter, I might have paid more attention to all of my math classes.
I’m not sure I ever had a geometry class. I loved algebra and chemistry, but I don’t think I had geometry. The leader and ender blocks are cute and will make a fun quilt.
Your little fishie blocks are so cute! Today I had lunch with a high school class mate (from the 1950's. We too were talking about how we loved our math teacher. Only five of us went on to take Geometry; couldn't believe they allowed a class so small, but they did! To be truthful, I hadn't thought about "pi" in a long, long time until I read your post today. ---"Love"
That second batch of blocks is so intriguing laid out together and in those colors. That's going to be stunning. I loved how you remembered your math teacher, Dr. Connor. I think all of us who love math had a teacher we might credit with responsibility for that. Mine was a retired Marine, Mr. Haugh. We had a guaranteed win of a quiz every year worth 10 points - it was on the anniversary of the formation of the Marines! Famous sayings included, "Young man, have you been spending your hair cut money on girls?" He made math accessible and positive for a lot of young teenagers at our high school in the sixties.
The math part kills me every time.
I love geometry but never have been a fan of algebra! LOL
What a cute bucket!!
