A little progress, and some squirrels!!

Well now!   It is a brand new year, isn't it!!!!  The squirrels outside are playing in the oak trees, while going up high, snug in their nests, at night.  I am inside, warm and snug, after our "blizzard." (a few drifting down flakes of snow)...and decided for my mini of the month, I would try to make small mini, as part of a great big whole quilt.  So here is my mini for January!!  I just kind of free hand cut some letters, drew a snowman and cut it out, and pieced some blocks.  Actually, I had most of the little stars made already...I can sew one in five minutes, if I have them cut out, so that is what I do in the mornings before work, sometime.  I have a basket full of them!  I am already thinking about February's mini.
I am making centers for my Quiltville mystery quilt...now these are just fun, as mentioned before.  Love, love! this part!

Quiltville's Quips & Snips!!: Grassy Creek Mystery!

It is pink month, for Rainbow quilts!!!  So I made some pink tulip blocks.  Again, super fast to piece if you already have them cut out.
Here is where I am on this rainbow quilt...note the already cut out pieces on the tray below the blocks.  I guess I am just a cutter outer kind of quilter!

My wonky star in the center.

ON WE GO!  My hubby got his vaccine today, for which I am profoundly grateful, for he is a vulnerable person...

Love your projects...especially that pink wonky star block...
Meantime, I cannot get myself "into" the pinks!! I feel that everything looks "blah" and "meh". I must need a few days away from sewing--I think this isolation has really gotten into my brain lately--like a lot of us I am sure...maybe time to clean my machine, wind some bobbins and just read a bit...hugs stay safe now Julierose

All your blocks look so cheerful and happy! They are a reminder that Spring will be coming before too long. Wish I could get just half as motivated as you are. I haven't even opened my machine since before Christmas! That has got to change soon! ---"Love"

Love the star bocks, and the tulips. And who wouldn't love that cute little snowman! We dont get snow where we live, only on the tops of the mountain ranges, so we just have rain, wind, and the occasional hail. That's cold enough for us.

You know how much I love star blocks, and yours are adorable and sweet, especially framing the snowman.

Great advice about daily water first thing in the morning. My shoulder length hair takes forever to dry so I do around 60 squats as I start the hair drying process. This is why I like the idea of the abdomen exercise in bed in the morning. Perfect timing. Please stay safe.

All very pretty and bright blocks--I love snowmen this time of the year--yep--even in Florida--have them all lined up on my window sill--
and I love tulips--keep saying I am going to make me a tulip quilt--someday!!!
Glad you are all getting the shots--I heard yesterday that one of the companies is saying that they only will last for one year--the protection from the vaccine that is???
have fun stitching-
hugs, di

I've got several of the wonky star in the 25 patch blocks and pieces cut for many more but I never seem to get around to them because of all the other stuff!! So you're going to put the little snowman into a bigger quilt? Can't wait to see it if that's the case but I'm guessin' it'll be awhile. I truly believe you have WAAYY more projects going than me! LOL

Loving ALL your rainbow projects! The wonky stars is on my list if I can fit it in. Feeling a little pressure to finish some of last year's quilts first....

Sweet snowman block :-) Great job freehanding the letters. It always adds such character. And those blues are pretty! Your rainbow quilt is going to be a fun one...as is the mystery. Great colors this year!
I think we are at least a month off to a vaccine in our area but maybe we'll be surprised :-)
Congrats and best hopes to your hubby!

I saw your area got snow! So fun! Your little snowman is adorable. Great plan with the monthly little quilt.

Your tulips gave me an idea for the table runner challenge this month (I'd better get busy). I've seen the wonky stars before, but really don't want to start another big quilt as I have too any UFOs already. Glad your husband got his vaccine. We've just been added to the eligible list, but supplies are still so limited that it will be months before we get ours (I'm in NY where there are 7 million people now eligible, but the state only gets 300,000 doses a week!).

Cute blocks. I dislike the cutting out part (means you have to iron the fabric first).

Delightful little snowman mini. What a great combination. Hope it brings some good luck on the snow front. . . we could all use a little more.

So many pretty things to distract you in the morning. Surprised you make it to work on time! Lol! You're right though -- after deciding what fabrics to use (my hardest part) and getting them cut, piecing is a snap. If you're way ahead in the cut-out game, I've got some fabrics that need to be cut! Haha!

I love flying through and producing blocks when all the cutting has been done and it's neatly organized. The pink tulips are so pretty!

Sounds like having things cut is the key to productivity. So many great blocks! So glad you husband was able to get the vaccine. One step closer to being done with this pandemic.

Hexies, rainbow quilts and plaids!

Good morning to all!!!  Above is a hexagon, for English paper piecing.  My kitten Lucky has discovered them, and decided that they are great...
