An idea!!!

Good morning to everyone!  Hey, I have an idea!  I was given a brown grocery stack full of old flannels...see below.  The lady that gave them to me knows I make quilts for patients, and she was taking them to the good will, and she saw me and said, "Would you like this sack I have designated for the good will?"  YEP!  I would like it!   I kind of separated them into "boy" colors and "girl" colors.   Here is the block I am making. Simple and fun to make!  I am thrilled that something got saved, and thrilled to be working on patient quilts!
 The cool stack...
The warm stack.

What are you working on?  I am going to do more Log Cabin quilts this year...I have strips, and I have a rotary cutter, and I have a desire to use every scrap I have!!!!  I also want to make some bowl fillers, and some more mug rugs, and of course continue on my projects from last year.

Hugs to all!!!

how did you do that without Y seams?

I like that block a lot. Wish I could get my scraps all used up this year too.

I'm still floundering around a bit deciding between finishing old starts, starting old ideas, or settling on starting a new idea. You sound so decisive!

Getting fabric scraps is always a good thing. Your idea sounds wonderful. Looking forward to seeing the quilts.

Fantabulous idea with the flannel scraps. I was gifted a box of leftover flannel squares last winter and I’m still making baby quilts with them. I’m making a QOV with leftover fabrics for my big project. My leader/ender project is tiny scraps to make Crazy Mom Quilt's scrappy churn dash blocks.

Can you share some info about your block, please? What size is the center square, and what is the finished size? Looks like a GREAT stashbuster๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

That's a cute block. Is that a creation of yours? It's funny that you say Boy colors and Girl colors because it used to be the other way around. Mary is always portrayed wearing blue because it was a soft, delicate color therefore girlish. Red is strong and bold and the color of Mars, the planet governing war, so it was a boy color. Well, actually the boys would wear pink until old enough to wear the red cape of the soldiers.
I've said that once to my husband when our first son was born and oh boy, that conversation didn't go so well. lol. Time changes.
Enjoy your new project. ;^)
P.S. Yes, I know, I am a geek, lol. :^D

Today I worked on basting and hand piecing hexagon pieces together, while doing laundry at someone else's home. I'm using 1800's reprints, and it will be very scrappy. I'll only know the finished size when I get done with it. I will border it with straight of grain fabric, eventually, to even up the edges.

I like the block! That's a great one for soldier quilts of all kinds. I'm always using up scraps, often in log cabins, and they NEVER go away. LOL Today, I was not working on scraps. I was doing embroidery - redwork - as we drove to Nashville and back.

There is just something about fabric that is so comforting. I am looking forward to turning my yards to scrap this year.

A really unique block--I am interested to see how you will set them and what secondary pattern will be created.
I am currently trying to finish up my Circa 1880 quilt top. Might just do it before the month is out--well, maybe not the borders. I always stall at that point.

You amaze me,always fresh ideas!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
