I have been working hard on these blocks; my "plaids and plains" flying geese blocks. They are fun, and when you get into a rhythm, they are fast. Five seams each...and I thought I would put a little surprise into this quilt, thus the plain muslin pieces at the top of the quilt. Just can't leave well enough alone, can I? Hee!!!
Hope you all are have a wonderful day!!

Na, that's just a contrail obscuring those geese near the top. They are really all there in their glory :)
Chalk up another beautiful scrap creation from your hands, Julie. And the diagonal of plain muslin is a genius touch! Wonderful!!
Having a good day.........all the more for seeing this cool quilt!
Hi Julie I love what you have done with this quilt
This quilt is looking like another stunner! Wow!
Love the unexpected surprise!
its going to be another stunning quilt. I love the scrappiness, and the plain diagonal allows the eye to rest a bit. Well done!
Beautiful! I like the diagonal part up top! You amaze me!
LIKE LIKE LIKE LOVE!!!!
I would probably add another row near the bottom, or place the plain rectangles so that the geese form the classic "V" formation in flight. Looks amazing.
I like the surprise of the plain blocks. A resting place for the eyes. Are you about to run out of plaids?
You did work hard on this one. I can't believe it is almost completed. Kudos, my dear! I love the surprise on top. Set on an angle like that, it adds more interest and is just perfect. Kind of whimsical a little bit. Makes the eye search for more plaids, and when it finds it, it goes back up to the empty space. Love it Big time!! ;^)
I love this sooooo much!! I've been enjoying those geese right along, but that plain diagonal just makes it perfect!
I'm in agreement. The diagonal plain blocks are perfect. Just a small break in the geese formation.
The way you put the plain pieces, catches the eye nicely.
The plain blocks are wonderful - they give the project more character!!! Great idea. The entire quilt is wonderful as well! 8-)))
I absolutely love this!
I like it ! That's how I am........I always want to throw in some little unexpected twist. It took everything within me not 'Dolly-up" my most recent top (which I haven't shared yet. So It all came out when I decided to totally piece a back for it !
This is going to be a GRAND quilt....can hardly wait to see it quilted.
Great, wonderful quilt. Love it! Esp. the unexpected calm spot.:)
I like it!
Lovely! You make the best quilts! Love the surprise!
Every time you make a new quilt, I think, "this one is my favorite." No exception here! Love the little extra surprise! It's perfect! XO
Great diagonal surprise design element!
I guess I am little confused how go you make the geese ...don't see only 5 seams ?
