42 baskets...red and white!!

Hi Y'all! Well, I just really wanted to make a red and white quilt too...and really liked the basket block! So I designed this block...rotary cut, chain pieced...super quick and fun! Of course, the basket handles all need to be hand appliqued down. Insomnia work, that!!
I need your help, though...how do I set these together? On point, as picture number one? All facing one direction, straight set, as number two? or alternating rows, as in the third picture? Or with alternate squares, or sashing?
I would love to know your opinion!!
Have a great day, everyone!!
Julie

I like #1 and #2, but I googled "basket quilt images" and found some other great setting ideas as well. Good luck on making your decision, if would be a tough one for me.

I like the on point setting.
It is just a beautiful quilt.

Simply awesome, Julie. I love two color quilts, especially red and white ones.

I like the baskets on point as well and if it were mine, I wouldn't add sashing. It's going to be gorgeous when it's finished.

Great job and thatnks for sharing.

What about on point with a narrow white sashing and red cornerstone at the intersections?

JUST GORGEOUS!
THANKS FOR SHARING!

I like either on point or alternate rows. Very pretty.

On point, it looks traditional that way.

Julie each setting has it's own charm. Tough decision.
Maybe the first picture?
I love them all.

What a beautiful quilt and oh so much work! I too like the baskets on points. Love anything red & white. Have a great week.

You are so fast! Love, love, love the red baskets. I like them either on point or if the right side baskets lean to the left and the left side lean to the right rather than all the same direction or leaning by row. Some antique quilts are done that way. They'lll be beautiful no matter which you choose!

On Point--no sashing or borders, just red binding. Great Job!!

I like the on-point setting best. The baskets are beautiful.

My vote goes for the on point arrangement. I like the idea of sashing too. Good luck deciding. It's going to be beautiful either way!

The consensus seems to be on-point, but do what makes you happy. Love your basket block. Very nice.

I'll vote with the crowd--on point. If you want a larger quilt then I would use sashing the same as the background color. I think the red cornerstone idea might be fun, too.

OH! I like the alternating rows, so jaunty and fun. Otherwise I think the block on block setting is more modern looking whereas sashing would be more traditional--what are YOU feeling?

Love basket blocks, love red so this is right up my street!! I'd go for alternating rows. As to whether to sash, might depend on how big you want/need the finished quilt to be :)

How totally awesome!!!! Yeah. I'm an "on point" girl myself. That's just the standard around this house but I know you'll do whatever magical wonderment feels best for you!!!!

Beautiful! What's not to love about a red and white quilt ... especially and red and white basket quilt!

I too vote for on point ... but I'm an on-point kind of gal! ;-)

I choose the on point setting.

I love the alternating rows. They remind me of happy dancing baskets! But you know I'm weird that way!

Hey, where do you find the time to do so much peicing? I barely have my snail's trail finished, and boom! You have a couple of more tops done! You are the quilting queen, I swear!

Well, I'm off to sleep, then back to work on my quilt. I'm off for a couple, and I'm NOT ANSWERING MY PHONE!!! Last night I was charge with 2 pts. The other nurse was tripled. I'm done!

I like the top two sets, but I know whatever you choose will be a winner!!

wow@! we sure do have a lot of opinions! LOL. I like the third pic but would like to see red sashings to break up the white. I love the traditional on point but think the third is a nice twist on that.

However you set them will be awesome, good job! Hugs, Finnie

How about in quadrants with handles pointing to their respective corners? Helpful, probably not . . . . just a thought *s*

A lot of antique basket quilts are like your #2, if all the blocks on the left side were flipped, so bat be left side was a mirror image of the right.

I love basket blocks and think whatever setting you choose will be lovely.

On point look so much better!!!

I like basket layout #3 - but they are all great and will make a nice quilt.

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
