Cleaning out the drawers...scrappy style!

Just cleaning out the drawers, folks...since the drawers won't close, it is a good thing! I am just playing with the stars...I will make the background much more scrappy, and the star colors will fall as they may. I did not realize I had so many taupe 3.5 inch squares, so they are going to be gone, gone, gone with this quilt. I think a scrappy border is a must for this one...

*********************Some very sad news************************

My dear brother-in-law, Keaton, has passed away this weekend. He was the brightest of all of us...a brilliant electrical engineer, who had Alzheimer's at the end. His mind was gone for a long time, and his body passed away this weekend. I am going to be with my sister the next few days...He was a wonderful man, a shining light of goodness for these many years I have known him. They had been married 45 years...

Love your scrappy stars as always.

So sorry to hear of your family's loss--my grandma had vascular/senile dementia and like your BIL, her body lasted a lot longer than her mind. So difficult to mourn a person before they are truly gone from the world. Now your sister does not have to worry about her dearly beloved any longer. Hugs!

How sad to lose your brother-in-law to such a disease. My dad has it, too.
You have a wonderful new project started to help take your mind off of things for a bit. Love how you are using different lights the way that you are. A great idea that I will keep in mind.

So sorry about your BIL. But it seems like it was a blessing as he hadn't been himself for some time. And I love your scrappy stars! Makes me want to just start cutting squares from my scraps!! :0)

What a sad time. My 92 year old mom has Alzheimer's disease. She taught me to sew, she was my Camp Fire Leader, she lead hikes for the Seattle Mountaineers, all that gone now. What a cruel disease. I'm glad your sister has you to spend time with her and comfort her. Hugs to you and your family.

Sympathy but it's a blessing to go on. My father walked around for 10 yrs. without his mind and personality. We just had his body. Gratefully a stroke finally took him. This is an incidious disease worse than any I know of...thing on the good things in his life.
