Hi all: I am jumping around project to project...where is that focus from earlier this spring, when I finished so many big 'ol quilts? Anyway, I was straightening up the quilt closet, and found these 1.5 inch squares, so I made four patches. I love the littleness of them...now what in the world to do with them??
My picture is terrible...does not do this lovely object justice at all, but it is pink, and lovely, and a wonderful scissor fob made by Kaaren at the Painted quilt! She is a great talent...I love this...thank you Kaaren!
Then I emptied the string bin, and was sorting these out...and little Rosie the poodle decided that the pile was an ideal place for a nap. And stayed there all morning! Sorry about the blurry shot...she is such a dolly, though!
Anyway, I sorted out the cream/white/light string and made string blocks...Hmmm, the jury is still out on this, but if I quilted them in red and added a few scattered red hearts...hmmmm....?? What do you think? Maybe the trash bin? Or what??
Oh, Nine patch fun continues!! Joyful is really the word...look at what Kathy sent all the way from Ontario, Canada! Gorgeous lots of nine patches...little and big...gorgeous fabric too...wow! Thank you so very much, Kathy!!
And the fun continues! Look at what Carol sent from Florida! I have to say...these nine patches are just so gorgeous! Isn't that hot pink just good enough to eat! She also included luscious background fabrics...thank you so much, Carol!!
I am so blessed....I so appreciate each of you. Each quilter adds their own charm and talents to the blog world mix...I am just so happy to know each of you readers, lurkers, quilters!!! You are very important to me.
Julie

For heavens sakes don't throw those string blocks in the trash , they are gorgeous , yes a little embellishment will make them prettier but they look wonderful just like they are !
I really like those light toned string blocks. They have a very elegant look about them. Keep going for sure.
oooo no don't trash the cream strings, at least 30 other people and I would take them off your hands. how dare you say you would "trash" anything other than thread less than 2" and scraps less than 1/2", LOL!!!!!!!!!
Be careful or I'll send the scrap squad after you!
You could use the cream strings as a background for a folk applique?
Don't toss those string blocks! I like the idea of using them for a background for applique.
I love the scissor fob Kaaren sent - so pretty.
So many fabulous 9 patches.
I so agree with the rest of your readers - keep the light toned strings...add some dark brown perhaps.
Rosie is a doll!
I really like the cream string blocks! I was even thinking a quilt out of cream strings would be a classy quilt. Please, don't throw them away! :) The 9 patches are are just lovely too!
Look at your cute 4 patches! What pretty string blocks.
Hi Julie, just love keeping an eye on what everyone else is sending you, there are some beautiful fabrics around. Can you send your address so we can send off our nine patches.
Debbie & Norma
The string blocks are beautiful...they are even lovely plain. Might look better to you with brown sashing or something but I love them as they are :-)
And speaking of love...that Rosie is adorable!
What a doofus I am for not doing the 9 patch exchange. They look wonderful!
Now I just KNOW you will make those neutral string blocks come alive and look wonderful when you are done with them! NO trash bin...before you do that, give them to one of us! LOL
Oh goodness, I have a cocker-poodle that has the same look to her. I thought Daphne had taken a little road trip. Two RNs with almost identical dogs!
Some beautiful blocks I see there! Hey...you think those strings are crazy...that's nothing! Hee!!
Wow...that was fast in coming from my house to yours! Glad that everything arrived safely.
Looks like you and Rosie are having as much fun as I am playing in the scraps!!
I think your plan for the string blocks sounds good - please do not throw them away.
Loving making those 9 patches. There is one combination that will not make it to you, fell in love and cannot part! But they will be replaced.
A soft comfy place to lay for sure! You could stuff a big pillow with the scraps and make Rosie happy.
I agree with most everyone here: Don't hurt the string blocks. There is a beautiful quilt there. I'm not an embellisher, personally, but just as they are or with a narrow contrasting border they would be beyond beautiful. If you just can't stand them, I would give them a happy home. :)
Love the neutral strings. They would make a beautiful wedding quilt
OH my gosh, your little 4 patches remind me of a quilt that I want to make - a checkerboard. So just keep goin & then just sew them together - easy peasy lemon squeezy!
I LOVE your cream/white/light string blocks!!! Don't throw them out, send them to mid-Michigan! I'll take them in a heartbeat!
You are staying so busy and having so much fun!!
I have a beaded scissor fob from kaaren adn I love mine too!!
Love this post! It's exactly how my mind works, going from one thing to another! Lol :) Thanks for sharing!!
Love love 4 patches, the next best thing after 9 patches, lol.

Love watching the 9 patches come in. And all your progress with your little bits. I love the cream strings.
Oooh...look at all those 9-patches...just raining on you! I love a good rain, don't you?!
Love the Rosie pic, too. She's been such a blessing to you, hasn't she!
Hugs to you, Jules!
Oooh...and forgot to say: LOVE the creamy strings! Dreamy creamy! ;-) I think red would be super fun...real zippy and lively. But I also love a real tranquil quilt. So...how 'boutcha make two?! ;-D tehehe
I feel the same hopping around from one project to the next. Love the neutral string blocks, how about a very narrow red sashing.
Aint Kaaren such a sweetie.. I know.. because one year ago.. I gor one too.. very much loved..:O)))
