Giveaway winners! And let's do it again!

I just loved doing the give-away I posted about yesterday, it was such fun to see who might be reading my blog and visiting all your blogs back! ...and the winner drawn from a bowl of tiny slips with each name written on it is: MARCIE at PATCH-ALOT!! She has a most wonderful blog...for a extra special treat, you should go for a visit... just click here. Thank you so much, each one of you for entering...it was fun! Let's do it again!! Hancock Fabric Store closed in our area, and I bought a bunch of block kits...I bought these long ago at the fabric store, and had high hopes of making something of them. It has been, ahem, a couple years...so maybe you can enjoy them, because I am obviously not getting anything done with them! They are not all the blocks in the series, and there are duplicates of blocks, but the fabric is all there. Just not block 1, block 2, block 3...instead there might be 3 of block 1, 2 of block 6, etc. But all the fabric of there, and if you are imaginative and can or would like to make something of these, just leave me a comment and you will be entered. The fabric colors are a pink, a polka dot tan, and two tone on tones, one light, one dark. Drawing tomorrow, at 9 AM!
What a mess! But really, it is a good thing. I have been diligently cutting up all my scraps into usable units, like 1.5 inches, 2 inches, 2.5 inches, 3 inches and so on...strips and squares. The messy bin above is my 2 inch bin. There are both strips and squares in this one. Well....I decided for some fun and just mindless sewing, I would make 4 patches out of these squares. I made...one zillion 4 patches! Really, over 500. And I still have so many squares left! Anyway, below is...
a few of the block laid out. SCRAPPY! I love it! I think I may put an alternate square of blue and make a scrappy happy quilt. What do you think?

Thank you so much, and each one of you please have a fabulous day!!

Julie

Am I the first?, well congrats to Marcie, I really wanted the mags, oh well, :(. I'm not complaining about your next giveaway, lol, if I win I'm planning to make a big quilt, next year, and the ones you're giving away will be really helpful... I love your nine patch blocks colors, I'll go with the blue to finish your blocks!

You could make a scrappy quilt like the one at this website:

Okay Julie, you have our attention again today! Thank you for the giveaway.
I like the four patches, I usually hang on to strips, and make 2 1/2 strips, but my squares are not organized so well, usually stuffed into a baggie. I should try a box,....

I love the scrappy 4 patches...

The blocks would be put to good use. Our guild makes quilts for Shriners Hospital in St Louis, local nursing home and a crisis center.

Julie, I could use the fabric for my hexie charm quilt. They are 1/4 inch each so I do not need much.

Congrats to Marcie. Well.....I passed on the magazine giveaway BUT I would like to be entered into this one. Sick as I am, this caught my eye and I had to write a comment and be officially entered!!! You are so sweet to give those up, but I also know there comes a time when we have to be realistic and realize what we will not be using. I need to do that with my things when I am feeling better. Started to do it last year and then never pursued it very much.

Congrats to Marcie, I love reading her blog too. I also have bought block kits with good intentions....so no need to sign me up for this giveaway, LOL!

Love your four patches. I am going to make my brother a bow tie quilt and use double 4 patches as an alternate block using my 2" scrap squares. Yours look yummy and, oh my, 500 of them!!! that's a bunch of quilts in the making. Enjoy!

What do I think? My friend I think it's wonderful. Makes me so happy to see you playing with those scraps and making those 4 patches. You do such great work on The Fly like this, too. I can attest to that myself.

You're a Quilt Queen for sure. Oh and yes a setting block of blue - fantastical, magical. And of course I'm so happy to read that Marcie won. She's one of the bestest people on the Planet ever!!! You two are a pair.

I can't enter the contest though because, well, I wouldn't follow thru. Imaginative I'm not. Pattern follower is me... :)

You are so good about making scrappy quilts. I absolutely love scrappy quilts but I don't know if I have ever made a totally scrappy quilt. Maybe in 2010. :)

Love that you are cutting up scraps into usuable shapes. The little 4 patches are adorable!

I have the same blocks, I made it in a different color, so didn't use the kits, so don't enter me in the contest. For whoever wins, though, it makes a gorgeous quilt.

Julie, those pink and chocolate quilt blocks look delicious :-)
And the scrappy 4 patches come out looking so good. You'll enjoy them.
Bonnie at Quiltville, of course, has some great ideas to vary and create with them. Scraps make well loved quilts.

I admire your dedication in cutting up your fabrics so you can grab and use - it is one of my goals for this year to follow Bonnie Hunter's guide and just start cutting - your four-patches are lovely and scrappy -

Cheers! Shari

PS I followed the link that Quilter Kathy posted in her comment - an interesting but very busy quilt! That would take dedication of a sort that is lacking in my life right now...

Love your scrap organization and four patch blocks. I do the same thing periodically and it is so fun to pull them all back out and remember where each square came from.
