They just called me from the hospital, and said get up here right now! They just received our allotment of vaccine and I was Tier one to receive it. This is based on how many covid patients you are exposed to.
I went up there stat and I am now vaccinated! So there is a second injection in three weeks. I will be tested to make sure I have antibodies after that.
The air in the inoculation room was one of joy and happiness! Giggling and euphoria! Doctors and nurses who in ICU and covid units received it first. Teams of nurses are sweeping in and vaccinating us! At last, maybe the beginning of an ending, after nine months of exposure to Covid. I saw one little nurse smile for the first time in months.
I am so, so grateful to the immunologists and researchers who have worked around the clock to make this available. Grateful!
I will tell you about any side effects or sequelae I have!
From a tearful and excited Julie!

Oh Julie how wonderful to hear that you were in Tier One after all your exposures...
It is so heartening to hear that this has begun for real...
God Bless You all for being our caretakers...
Hugs, Julierose
That's EXCITING!! I've been thinking about you and wondering when you'd get it. So glad it was VERY EARLY ON. Got an email from Pfizer about a week ago saying they were looking at a way to reconfigure their trial so that participants (like me!) could get the vaccine if they had received the placebo. So still waiting for that but knowing there are SO many out there that need it way worse than me (like YOU!). Will be interesting to see how long the antibodies stay in the system.
Yay!! The nurses in my family are getting them this week as well. The light may be a bit dim, but at least there is light at the end of the tunnel!!!! So glad you've made it to vaccine day!!!
Aaawww, how wonderful that you got vaccinated!! Let us know how it affects you and what the results are...antibodies, no antibodies, etc. I hope that you can do some little vacation-y type stuff that will help you revive your spirits (without added poundage). Take care of yourself and stay safe!
YAYY!!! You and your co-workers deserve it!
wonderful news....and thank you for your dedication to the sick and infirmed...my family is full of nurses and i know exactly how hard they work and how dedicated and compassionate they are...
Yay! All of you front line workers deserve it!
So excited to hear this!!!! God bless you all.
This is so exciting! For you and all of us. And I can say I "know" one of the first to get the vaccine! I hope any side effects are minimal, but regardless, I know you will sleep better tonight than any night you have in months. I'm so happy for you!
Wonderful! All of you who work in the ICU deserve this big time. Thanks for all your hard work. I am waiting for my turn to go fast and I stay healthy til then.
Oh, that is great! We're probably going to be fairly low on the list to get a vaccine so I'll be interested in hearing your experience with the side effects, etc. Anticipating better days ahead!
That’s great news. You deserve it!!!
The beginning of relief! What wonderful news! The best today! I'm hoping your body gets the message strong and clear to build those antibodies...without making you feel bad in the meantime. The science world has been working hard. Thank God for all those smart people :-)
So glad to hear this - light at the end of the tunnel! So happy you have been vaccinated!
Excellent news!
Such good news!
Great news that you brave front line workers are getting some hope and protection! Yay
Hope it turns out well.
Just reading your news makes it all seem that much closer. Blessings to you and your colleagues along with the rest of us as we hopefully see all of this come to closure.

So glad to hear this, Julie!!
Wow! I'm glad you were in the 1st tier along with so many others. What a Christmas gift and blessing.
I was wondering how soon you would get your first shot. The hospitals here have not received any yet.
So happy to hear this. I worry for you each and every day.God Bless Julie and to all the medical staff
Great news!
I'm happy for you!
So wonderful to hear!
Praise the Lord! I have worried about you so.....
Yes, we thank God and the epidemiologists that have diligently worked on this project and we thank President Trump for spurring them on and his plan to distribute the vaccines in an expedient manner to all the tier one folks in our nation. Hallelujah!
So glad/thankful for your humanity skills of being a nurse. Thank goodness for the vaccine no thanks to mr orange. He wanted us all to get herd immunity and die. Please be safe:) Thanks again!
Yay, Julie!!!! 👍
So so happy for you!!!!
Thank you for sharing this news. I appreciate that you will keep us informed on reactions, since some people are concerned about that.
Glory hallelujah!
So hopeful now after a very bleak year.
I’m so relieved for your safety!
Congratulations on getting vaccinated! And a big thanks for being a front-line nurse! I'm a retired nurse and used to work in ICU. I worked in Florida then and our winters at the hospital were so overcrowded and all. I sure wish I was healthy enough to work now as I would love to help out somehow.
So glad to hear this, I worry for you.
This is just a great joy!!! I am so happy for you and for all of us who share your happiness. Today is my birthday..Even though you are the one with the shot. It makes my birthday special just knowing you got it!!!!! Thank you for all your good work xoxoxo
A big loud WOOHOO!!! I am SO glad to hear this!!!
thank you for all you do
Wow!
Thank goodness. I'm so glad you were able to get the vaccination - every one of you needs this pronto! No more health care professionals getting sick!
May this vaccination help stop the virus. May it help our healthcare workers be able to get back to a normal life. May it relieve the stress of taking care of seriously sick patients while watching so many of the general public not take it seriously. Prayers for you and your coworkers!
Such good news. I so want to hug you - big squishy hug :-)
Wishing you and yours Happy Holidays and a Joyful New Year!!!
I'm so happy and excited for you! And all the other medical and care-taking personnel everywhere. I'm glad God's hand has been over you this whole time, and that Trump's promise was fulfilled for all of you.
So glad that you got vaccinated. Hoping that it will help many people and end this COVID situation soon. Blessings.
Thank you to you and your health care colleagues around the world for your unwavering devotion to patient care during this pandemic. From the housekeeping staff to the hospital administrators to EMT's to pharmacists to scientists to you, dear nurse, you have shown tenacity and passion for your work. Roll up those sleeves and step to the front of the line.
I almost cried after reading your blog today! I'm so grateful for what you do and who you are. I, too, am grateful for all who have worked so hard to develop these immunizations to end this pestilence. By next Christmas, we might be mask free, maybe. But we should be able to gather and celebrate together again. Oh, to see all my grandchildren again!
Stay healthy, please! Hats off to you, once again! Merry Christmas to you and to all!
I am so glad you have the shot! My husband received his Friday. Because my classes have moved away from clinical sites and for now are all online I am pretty far down the list. I am so glad the front-line people are getting protected.
