I think this is right size for a hospital bed, so it will be a patient quilt, for one of those thoracic surgery/cancer patients we see so much of on my floor. These patients come for tumor removal, usually lung cancer, then go on for chemo. Smaller quilts make good chemo quilts.
I finished the border quilting through each string, so I could bind this quilt. I found a scrap in the scrap bin that was a great binding for this quilt!!!
I finished the hand quilting on this little one...word to the wise for me is to NOT USE that very puffy poly batting any more! It is just very, very puffy. VERY. very. Haha!! Just trying to use things up, but this was difficult to sew through and is yucky.
I am binding this quilt, and hand quilting is ongoing.
Making progress on Northwest x Southwest!!!
Have a great day, each of you...I am linking to Kathy, HERE. Did you know she is a social worker and does so much good for people, every single day, as well as being a lovely, skilled quilter?

lots of pretty finishes!
OH I love all your projects. I especially the Cheri Payne Halloween Quilt. Hugs
No doubt those baskets in that first quilt are full of love for your patients, and no doubt, whoever receives it will love you for it! Your other projects are very pretty too. I don't like to use poly batting either! I have a little I'm saving for packed pillows. ---"Love"
Julie, your basket quilt is gorgeous! I think this is one of my favorites that you've done. :) Did you use a pattern for it? And is that a Cheri Payne Halloween quilt? Such a fun quilt. I'm always in awe of how productive you are.
Ww You've been busy! I made a poly stuffed baby quilt for my niece and it was very very puffy too. Very very.
You've been very busy. Yes, I need to give away all my puffy batting. It's even harder to machine quilt with it, since the back tends to pucker and shift due to the thickness.
Your basket quilt is so pretty, how kind of you to pass it along to a cancer patient. I'm sure it will be treasured. Your halloween quilt looks like fun too.
You are really making headway on your projects. Love the basket quilt. Hugs
Whoever receives the basket quilt will know they are loved because it’s such a beautiful quilt. I like the sashing on the Northwest by Southwest blocks. I think it showcases the blocks very well.
Julie, you are just a fireball when it comes to making and finishing quilts! The basket quilt is a delight. So bright and colorful. I love the applique and oranges in your Halloween quilt. That's a fun one. Thanks for the heads up about the poly batting. Someone, who is not a quilter, made a quilt for an older friend. The older friend specified that she wanted a double layer of really thick poly batting. Well, of course, it wasn't all needed for the quilt so I ended up with the leftovers. I can't quite bring myself to use that batting in a quilt, but still, it sits in my closet. I should just pass it on!
What special gifts!!!🤗
I remember that very thick poly batting! I have a machine made quilt on my couch that only comes out when it gets cold. It has that thick poly batting in it, channel quilted, and is very warm!! So a quilt can be made from thick poly batting, but it needs less quilting, which also helps to create lofty spaces for insulation against the cold.
That basket quilt is going to make someone sooooo happy!
This is a good comment, it is an inspiration for today's youth, when we see such comments, we get to learn a lot from such articles. Can you write an article on a delightful subject which is such an article. I want to thank them.
