I got placed on call for today. Our patient census is down, at least in the CCU where I work. As nurses, we take turns being on call. There are two ways to look at this...I have to stay home, and dressed, so that I can be called in on a moments notice for any STEMI (heart attack patient) or any other emergency patient that requires critical care. I get paid the grand sum of $2 dollars an hour for this, and need to take vacation pay to get the rest of my wages...
But on the other hand!! I have an unexpected day off, at least for now!! So I am making tracks as fast as I can...Yahoo!!!

On call for $2 seems outrageous. Perhaps you CCU nurses need to demand more.
The bright batiks will certainly brighten someone's day. $2 an hour. That's incredible a sad commentary.

Sounds like an interesting situation to be sent home "on call". Almost like being a hostage in your home, but you can do what you want while you are there. And you collect enough money to pay for a fast food dinner. :)
I remember the on call wages very well... never worth it!

Just as well you have quilting to occupy your time while you are waiting, and I had to look very hard to find your mistake, and would not have noticed if you had not said. You are amazing how much you achieve and work as well.
It's the only way to spend an on call shift!

Love your quilt Julie, you are amazing with the number of quilts your produce.
Your mistake, 6 rows from the right and about 4 rows up from the bottom but it sure took me a long time to find. I just love the quilt mistake and all. Makes it a unique quilt and no matter what, no quilt is perfect no matter how hard we try. I enjoy reading your blog. I was first drawn to it because I have a special place in my heart for nurses as my only sister is an RN. Keep up your good works.
