Moving on to # 5/17 for this year...a little rearranging of the list! and a wee giveaway.

This is number 5, out of 17 projects I am trying to complete in 2017.  These stars have been cut out for a couple of years, and I make a few blocks, then put it away, then take it out and sew on it, then put it away...you get the idea!! This quilt comes from inspiration from Karen, the Log Cabin Quilter. She made an amazing quilt with this pattern, and she said she did not mind if I duplicated it...so I am!!

You may be asking what happened to number 3 project and number 4 project....well, I stalled out on the borders for number 3, and am waiting for finishing instructions for number 4!!  So, wanting to continue the forward momentum, I moved to number 5!!
Rosie just had to pose for you all.  She is the best quilt model around!!
The entire quilt will have a flying geese border, so  I need to get busy piecing that, too...and yep!  It is cut out!!
I found some fleece on super sale at Joann's, and was experimenting with making hats.  This one is just silly, but I thought....maybe I could make some Chemo caps for our patients?  Not with the big fluffy stuff on top, but more subtle and prettier??  Some of our tiny patients get so very cold, with no hair.  Just thinkin'!!!  I will look for a good pattern...
And if you have stuck with me this entire post...hey, I would love to give away this book to one of you!!  Random drawing will be later in the month. This is a brand new book, just ordered from Sentimental Stitches...but I have such concentration going for my 17 in 2017 goal...I think the book would be better used in another quilter's hands!!  So just leave a comment and later on I will randomly draw a winner.

Have a marvelous day, everyone!!!

You have inspired me with 17 in 2017! I am making my list (I have too many UFO's). Since it is February I better hurry up.
Please put me in the drawing for the book.

It seems every quilter around the internet is working on UFO's, including me. I wonder how long we can stick with it before we start more future UFO's. Love your blocks, so warm and cozy. You might have just inspired my next quilt! Thanks for the chance to win an interesting book.

Julie, your lovely star quilt is ispiring to me, too. I am looking for an easy yet beautiful quilt to make for my parents' 50th anniversary in a few years, and this seems like a good candidate (I'm a handquilter, so I need to start ahead of time. :)

I would love to be in the running to win your book -- thank you!

Stars are fun to make and a good stash buster, too. You have a nice selection, and they will look fantastic with flying geese.

Thanks for the giveaway, but I'll pass. I have too many projects in the works as it is.

Good for you, maintaining the forward momentum on your UFO list. I particularly love star quilts and a flying geese border sounds lovely.

Rosie is the STAR of that quilt. Haven't seen her in awhile so it is nice to have a picture of her. Adorable little girl. Love your idea of making hats for chemo patients. When you have found a suitable pattern, let us know. I, for one, would be happy to sew a few and send them to you. ;^)

Your stars are looking awesome Julie. I really love a star quilt especially if it is scrappy. Making chemo hats is a wonderful idea. I use to make hats for infants as a gift to new mothers. Haven't done it for a while, but now maybe I will try to make them again.

Thank you for the chance to win the book.

Julie, I have coveted that book since it came out. It's good to get back to our UFO's but so much fun starting something new, like I am almost done piecing a quilt for our bed. First one after 12 years of quilting

Hello!

Thanks so much for the giveaway! I love this book but my little dog's medical issues have kept me from buying anything for quilting. I also love Rosie and love to see what you've been up to. I have a star UFO like this one of yours and need to dig it out and do a finish. Now I'm inspired! Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the giveaway. I am new to your blog and I am having a blast reading your back posts !!!

I am working on UFOs also, but don't want to say how many...it is just more than I am comfortable with. Most just need a final border or binding. But I also need to start new things so I don't lose my desire to quilt. I always enjoy your posts and seeing what you're working on or finishing up!

I love to see what you are working on, it motivates me to finish some projects and to try and use from my stash

Love your star quilt! Glad you are keeping the momentum going on it. I have been in a "finish it to flimsy stage" kick lately. I had several projects started that were just taking up space on my table and have been able to get three off it in the last month. It feels so good to be able to see the table again!

Would love to be in the draw for the book. It looks so fun and cheery! Oh, and I bet you will be able to figure out the chemo caps. I bet if you searched, you could find some on the web.

Julie, I have been following your blog in my blogroll for many years. You are always doing so much. I like that you mentioned a few posts ago that you are hand quilting 30 minutes a day. You sound like me because I have to do some things in small doses but want to still progress on them.

I too am doing 17 in 2017. I am shocked at my progress on several of them just in the month of January! Goals lead to finishes.

I would love to be in the drawing for you book giveaway.

Thanks! Deana

I'm telling myself 12 UFOs in 2017 would be a good number/one per month at the very least. I'm nearing the end of #2 and its early in the month so far all is going well. I'm also getting ready for our 5 day retreat very soon so I hope it's a very productive week for me with my bee out in the country watching cows and assorted wildlife. Besides quilt projects, I'm taking dresses for Africa to work on as well a newborn hats for our hospital nursery. Have 52 of those marked and ready to trim and then will be ready to sew as leaders/enders in between other projects. I'm taking 5 dresses for Africa to make and another piece of fabric if I have the time.

I need to work on my UFO's. Don't know if I will get 17 done this year. Good luck on getting all 17 done.

Oh Wow, you are moving full speed ahead with your 17 projects. I'm working on mine too and it's a great way to keep motivated. I would love to win this little book just so I can start a new project without feeling too guilty about it. Winning it would definitely be more special compared to going out and buying it :o) Please pick me- (carol at artlessfabrications dot com) ... and if I win I promise to make at least one project from it this year lol

Love your approach to working on the list. It doesn't have to be done in any particular order. Enjoyment is the order of the day. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy the book but I'll pass. My list keeps getting longer than 17.

I love the star quilt you are working on. As far progress, you are really moving right along. And what is a quilt photo without Rosie!

I remember enjoying making the stars for my quilt. You have quite a few made already. I remember a friend telling me that my quilt reminded her of something her grandmother would have made. She borrowed my quilt and made one for herself.

With our guilds, we have been making pic covers (they look like long arm bands) that a Dr. (who was a former cancer patient) asked us to make. There will be adjustments to the original pattern as she finds out what works for chemo patients as they come in all shapes and sizes.

Oh, I would love to win this book, I've been thinking of ordering it from Gaye! Thanks for the opportunity, Mary

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
