Oh the quilting!!

Super excitement here!  I just received my quilt back in the mail, from Tricia at Turning Twenty.  Please see her website HERE.  At last, my woolie quilt is actually quilted!
The quilting is just lovely.  Custom quilted, and I just love it!!
 Closer...
And closer!!  I am so very happy with this...at last I am making some progress on these quilt tops!!!  The binding is ready to go.  Thank you, Tricia, so very much!!
Last night, I sandwiched and pinned this quilt.  And since the edge was already fraying a little (being made from all homespuns), I bound it.  You have to be very careful in doing this binding before quilting thing, to make sure there are no puckers and etc...but I have made it work in the past.  I am working on the hand quilting on this one.  I don't think it would work for machine quilting...what are your experiences??
And three more blocks for the Temecula summer quilt along.  The other block is cut out...not sew yet, though!

***************************Health update*******************************

I am slowing down.  The tachycardia is so much better, except after I eat.  I have a continuous heart monitor, and that is so helpful!  Lots of medications later...things are different...slower!!  I feel a bit sleepy, actually, which means I am probably going hypothyroid now.  Labs in a week or so!!!  I thank everyone for your prayers and thoughts, so much.

**********************Nurse's notes******************************

I floated to another unit, a neuro unit the other day. Strokes, Tia's, that sort of thing.  It was fun!  I love to go to new places and learn how those nurses do things...and the nurse were all so great and oriented me a little and were just fun to work with.  I am still doing the patient advocate thing....but tired of hearing complaints, kind of.  I love it when I can make a positive difference, though!!  My favorite nursing? A very sick, one on one ICU patient, multi organ system failure patient...that gets well and comes back to see us later!

***************************************************************

Have a great day!!

Your woolie quilt looks marvelous. I just did a log cabin with some homespuns thanks for the tip about binding before hand quilting. I have seen bindings stitched on before quilting but have never tried it. I usually stay stitch by machine with the quarter inch seam line to help the quilt edge from stretching too much while quilting.

Your woolie quilt is fabulous! You must be so pleased! Your homespun quilt is also so gorgeous. I too find that homespuns fray a lot...sounds like a great idea to bind first!

Yes, she did a fantastic job on your woolie quilt. Love it and also love your homespun quilt. I can stare at that one for hours on end. So wonderful!! I finished hand quilt one that had the binding already done and all went well. So enjoy the slow stitching and take it slow. Your health is more important than any quilt or all quilts. Prayers and good energy sent your way. ;^)

It's so good to hear your heart rate is slowing down. You are certainly still getting some lovely quilting done so hope that means you are feeling good too. 😊 The wool quilt and quilting really is beautiful and sweet.
Your homespun quilt along is very fun. Hand quilting will be perfect for it.
Hoping to get back to some homespuns too.

I am so happy to hear that you are experiencing some improvement. You will stay in my prayers!
Two wonderful quilts. I can see why you are thrilled with the quilted one. Very beautiful!
And your homespun creation makes me smile. But you are right about the fraying. I have to admit that I have stayed away from most homespuns in my quilting after having used them to make historical costumes and watched how they unraveled at the seams.
I've never bound before hand quilting. I will be interested in what you experience.

I am praying for you! I have never heard of binding before quilting, although I have heard of some people sewing all around their before quilting it, so I guess that would sort of be the same thing. Your quilt turned out great - yeah on a finish!

Glad you are feeling somewhat better - hope things keep improving! LOVE both of your quilts - the woolie is just so beautiful and the quilting really compliments it. I have never put on a binding before quilting - keep us posted! That quilt is so fantastic - I would be happy to sew that binding down for you, if you want to send it to me - lol!

Fantastic quilting on your woolie applique. I don't think I've ever bound a quilt before it was quilted. Keep us posted.

Yay a beautiful finish! Squiggles and squeals!!!! I'll be interested to see how your pre-bound quilt does - I may need to try that sometime as I have some homespuns going into a project very soon.

Glad you're feeling a little better. Still praying that you'll continue to improve. Wow, that quilting on the woolie quilt is just absolutely spectacular! Wow! I don't know that I'd have the courage to bind before quilting ... I do put down stay stitching along the outer edges of my quilts if the fabrics seem to be a little more ravelly than usual.

Good to hear that your health is improving: hope the labs show even more positive improvements.

Fabrics that fray are my nemesis, so I tend to stay-stitch around quilts that I suspect will fray. Love the woolie quilt - it's gorgeous!

The woolie quilt is lovely.

I, too, have hypothyroid/heart issues. Find I do better on several small meals rather then one or two large meals. Hard to accomplish given the nature of the working world..... You stay in my thoughts.

Your "Life of Plenty" is stunning...... I only have 5 blocks done so far and I am behind on the Temecula stitch along......

Maybe one day I will catch up.......

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
