It is becoming more about the applique??

I had the chance to have a sew day with several medical/nurse type friends.  We call ourselves the "Remnants." I worked on the hand applique of these flower blocks.  I am loving the process, the creation of something new, all from my own brain, cobbled together from memories of quilts, and memories of these fabric scraps from other quilts.  It may turn out badly...or good!!  But the process is so fun and rewarding to me.

If you can...and a lot of you do!  Try and make something all your own!!  Make something out of your little pieces or blocks leftover, just what you have on hand. Just yours...it is great fun!!  Audrey from Quilty Folk is a champion at this.  Check out her blog right HERE!

I love the black sashing, looking great. I'm really trying to finish some other quilts but my flowers are still a UFO so it would count as finishing something.
Thanks for the inspiration..............

You're an excellent appliqué stitcher--mine would not look like that! Glad you're having your stitchy times with friends. How's the patient advocacy job going?

Your quilt is coming along just beautifully. I was unsure whether the appliquéd flowers would benefit from a black border when I read your last post but seeing them here with the border I would definitely say you made the right decision. They look great and show up so well in the midst of the HSTs.

I love watching the organic way your quilts develop. Its quite inspirational. The applique flowers look perfect in that setting.

I love what you are working on! It is fun to make quilts that are all ours, with bits and pieces of our stash.

This gets better all the time. Love the skinny border around the flowers.
I'm using leftovers to make a tiny tablerunner my friend wants for her counter. I found a good backing piece that goes with the binding so it's reversible :-)

I am so glad to hear you had a sew day! What fun! I think you idea is coming together nicely. Yes, I want to try my hand at making my 'own' quilt some day too.

This is looking great, Julie! I just love how you create from your scraps!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
