Friday Night Sew in....today!!

I am off work today!!  Yahoo and Yippee!!  It has been busy at the hospital, so it is good to have a catch up day at the house and to have time to work on the mystery too.  I think it is so weird that I am not doing scrappy with this quilt, but hey, I just have to be a little different, don't I, LOL!!!
Kathy said that tonight was a Friday Night Sew in...well, I can't stay awake very late, and I have my sewing time today...so I am doing it now!!  I will post little progress posties throughout the day about how it is going with the mystery.  As you can see, I have a lot of little pieces and parts left to sew together!!  Here's to making it all a cogent whole!!

FLU!!!

That is the word of the day at the hospital...not just people who have the sniffles and a cough, and body aches...but people on the ventilator, with sepsis, with organ failure, on rotoprone beds to help their lungs...Many, many people In ICU with the flu...mostly type A here, about 80%, with 20% swine flu.  50 new cases rolled in through the ER yesterday.

I know lots of you may not think flu shots are good, but I think if I had to face the kind of illness and possible death that these poor patients are facing...I would GET A FLU SHOT!!  The best you can possible get...there are different kinds...talk to your doc about it.  At the hospital, all staff are required to get a flu shot or not work.

Many other very sick cookies too......praying for everyone to get well!!

Have a great day...updates on my progress on the  mystery quilt to come today!!

Flu shot - I never miss it! The flu has hit areas in Wyoming hard too. Hospitals are now on restricted visitation alert.

Have fun sewing today.

What would the hospital do for someone who can't get flu shots because of allergies? I haven't had one since I had an allergic reaction to one (I'm allergic to eggs and didn't know about the connection because I'm an idiot).
I'm just curious.
Enjoy your sew-in! As soon as I get off this computer and get some fabric ironed I will be sewing for the rest of the evening.

I can't stay up late either- worked today at the hospital from 5am to 2pm. Now have a repair guy here. When they installed our new heat pump 2 years ago, they didn't put enough strip heat on/in it. So I gotta sit here and not sew. Love the fabric for your Celtic Solstice. I went with black, gold, red and green. Surprise, my hubby likes it and he usually states I work with rags!

To answer Vicki W's question, our hospital requires a flu shot of all their employees, or the employee has to wear a mask on the premises from the moment they walk in until they go home. Some hospitals won't even accept that....

I am almost never sick, but I did get a flu shot this year just in case someone around me gets it. Since I work with birth through 3 year old kids, I wanted to protect both them and myself. Did I mention that I HATE getting shots?

Great progress on the mystery, Julie - love the plaid variation!

DH's employer offers free flu shots to employees and usually greatly discounted shot for dependents. This year we all got them free!
I love your non-scrappy Celtic Solstice, even though I usually go for scrappy. I think the plaids and your colors won me over!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
