Finished with strings for a while? Ha!!

Happy Monday!!  I just can't leave those strings alone!  I was just going to make a few string blocks, strictly  for fun, with no plan in mind...but then the basket idea sprang into my brain, and then...I was off to the races!  So here it is:  Fiesta Baskets!
Close up of the border...which by the way was great fun to make!  All out of the 2.5 inch string/square drawer.  Thanks Bonnie Hunter for the scrap savers system; the system works tremendously well for me!  The baskets are 8 inch finished.
And a favorite block!  This quilt top is made entirely of gifted and saved strings.  Wide strings and narrow ones too....just a whole bunch of scrappy fun!!  Now...maybe I will do something else, other than a string quilt!  (but don't count on it...)

Have a great day, everyone!!!

Julie

Lovely! As a quilters I really like the 'wide open' spaces, perfect for lovely quilted motifs etc.
It's happy Tuesday here in NZ!!

You are priceless, Julie girl!! :D Love those baskets---AND that sweet angel with Churn Dash Blocks. I didn't know you ran--- you go, girl, I'm over here in TN cheering you on. I'm still eating some sugar but I've been on a gluten-free diet since May of this year. I cannot begin to tell you how it has changed my energy level and my achy joints. :)

Sweet! The strings add so much interest. I love Bonnie's inspirations. My scrap saver system is still not very organized but I'm making a Blue Ridge Beauty with some squares I've already sewn and other bits of yardage. My favorite manager at work is leaving us and this will be for her...it may actually be more about cheering me up about losing her :-(

I am in love. This basket quilt really speaks to me. With your permission I'll save a copy of the photos in my private inspirations file.

What I love about visiting your blog is seeing something DIFFERENT than what goes around Blogland. You delivered again and I sure enjoyed!

What clever baskets you have created. Wonderful quilt!
I think I need to send you another squishy of strings--and I think I won't hold my breath about you NOT using strings! : )

It is lovely and what quilting do you have planned for all those nice blank white squares?

Nicely done!

Happy Sewing

LOVE IT! I'm a big fan of basket blocks and scrappy blocks, so this is a winner with me! Plus, you have all that negative space calling out for some fun quilting :)

What a great way to use some strings - different than what I usually see. Love your border - it really adds a lot to an already great quilt!

So sweet! I think you should just keep dreaming up new ways to use strings. :-)

I love the baskets.

Just curious: where do you get all the strings to make these gorgeous creations?

Another wonderful string quilt top with lots of room for fun quilting!! I really took heart to what you wrote on your blog about getting off sugar and not drinking pop. I have been off since reading that, and I feel so much better. Not going to go back and forth anymore. Thanks for your nursing knowledge---my heart thanks you!!

The baskets are lovely! But, my favorite part is the large "ric rac" border!

Julie I love your string baskets. String quilts are so relaxing to make and to look at. I like to copy your string baskets, thanks for sharing.

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
