blues, Blues, BLUES!

Just of lots of blues going on around here!  Here is a blue version of Bonnie Hunter's string X pattern...adding a little corner triangle to the white triangles.  I have 18 more blocks to go, and this will be a nice throw sized quilt.  I just love all the variety of blues!
And a second baby quilt...not fancy, and it needs a good pressing before I get busy quilting it.
And this sunflower came into being too!  Strings for the petals...should have added a ninth petal, but oh well, it is done!!
And with all this piecing comes some bonus triangles, so this little quilt was born too.  And with that...maybe I am done with strictly blue for a while...at least when I get the other blocks done for my string x...then I will be!

Congratulations to Stephanie Hughes, you were randomly chosen to receive the magazine from last post...I will send it to you as soon as you get me your address!!

I hope you all survived the election process...I am glad  it is all done with!  And glad to live in a country where we have a choice, and a chance to vote!!!

The Hurricane...Sandy.  These storm victims are very heavy on my mind...I have donated to the Red Cross and am donating a quilt too.  Please see Quiltville for information about donating, on her November 8th post.  My prayers and thoughts are with all of you and your families affected by this terrible storm. And may the power be on for everyone, ASAP!!

Have a great day,

Julie

Julie, I love the little added touch to the String X blocks. Gives it a whole new look.
What a nice little baby quilt, too And of course, I love the mini!
I think the sunflower looks great without a ninth petal. The string petals are so cute!

Blue and white is such a fab combo. Love that white star in blue sashing quilt, its on my to do list and I have started cutting. I hope the bonus triangles were from that project? Cos now I know to keep mine and what I can do with them!

The blue string quilt is absolutely awesome! I love the blue baby quilt too! It's sure to be an heirloom for the mother to cherish!

I have 3 glorious nights off to stay up and quilt! Whew, I thought they would never get here! I have a bunch of fabric gifted by a dear friend to sink my teeth into! Love ya!

I was just looking at the String X on Bonnie's website today, thinking even I could attempt that, having never done strings before. Your blues look wonderful with that crisp white! Pretty pretty.

Just lovely! Everything in blue -- what's not to like! I didn't even notice the sunflower had 8 petals, it looks fine as it is!

Our church gave last week's entire general fund offering to 2 organizations where 100% of the $$ goes to aid victims of this storm. That amount was just under $146,000. A drop in the bucket when millions are needed, but every bit helps!

I am enjoying watching you play with your blues. As you go through your scraps, do you use all of a certain color before you move on?

Hi Julie, I found a redwork angel that says "a friend hears the song in my heart and sings it to me when I forget the words". I went back to your blog on Nov. 5, 2011 and now I do not see this. I just found one sheet of this laying on my computer table but no pattern. Can you help me find the pattern?? Thanks, Sandra

Hexies, rainbow quilts and plaids!

Good morning to all!!!  Above is a hexagon, for English paper piecing.  My kitten Lucky has discovered them, and decided that they are great...
