Working on it!

I received the blue and white quilt back...all quilted! I love the texture, and just have to finish the binding. It is not big enough...just twin sized, about...I need to concentrate on making bigger quilts, to cover the whole bed, queen sized. I do love this quilt, it is from Bonnie Hunter's book! A big thank you to "The Bonnie" for all her inspiration!

Slow progress is being made on these blocks...they are fun, but seem to take more time than they should. I have had a medication change with the thyroid meds, and I think that is the culprit...everything is taking more time than I think it should!!

Just look at all these gorgeous fabrics! Four friends and I exchanged fat 1/8ths of fabric...what fun mail that was!! Thank you so much Joyce, Maggie, Lois and Diane...you have such generous hearts...and I can't wait to make Jacob's Ladder blocks from all these gorgeous fabrics!!

I found this stitchery on the web, and on a lark, stitched it up...single thread of red. It was such fun!!

Close up of the words.....

**************************Nurse's Notes*****************************

I had such a profound experience at work this last week...a poor patient just keep on and on going into V-tach! This is a shock able rhythm, for those non medical folks...that day I defibrillated him 14 times. Eerie....quiet in the room...then the v-tach...did not call codes, just quietly coded the patient myself. Just could not stabilize him with any meds at all!! I truly felt God's presence in the room, watching out over the patient, and for me too. Eerily peaceful in the chaos...

****************************************************************

My neighbor gave me a quilt last year, that was given to her doctor father in lieu of payment. Very old...and very lovely. This darling lady told me about all her quilts...she has since passed away, and her entire lovely house and goods are up for sale in an estate sale today. Her easel, her artists paints, all her crystal and china and silver and just everything she used everyday too. The quilt her mother made 65 years ago for her wedding...it just made my heart ache to see that no family member really wanted anything of hers...I am going to try and buy the quilt if it is not too dear. She told me the story of how her mother had pieced and hand appliqued this quilt, then hand quilted it over a whole year. She was so proud of it,and carefully and proudly displayed it on her old antique tester bed. I will show you a picture if I get it....it has never been washed, and looks just like new.

***********************************************************************

Have a great day all!!

Your blue and white quilt is so lovely, Julie! The Jacob's Ladder colors in multi-colors is going to be gorgeous, too. I hope you can 'rescue' the neighbor's quilt, Julie. It needs someone to love it; and I can't wait to see a picture of it. :) Love the stitchery---where did you snag it from? It would be the perfect Christmas gift for my BFF.

Oh...so jealous you got your Blue Ridge Beauty finished. I had the blocks and somehow, they have disappeared. I am so frustrated. I have looked and looked for them. SO-so sad that no one would want your neighbors quilt. Some people just don't know a true treasure.

Your blue and white quilt looks great!! And the stitchery is darling. I am loving how your blocks are looking - slow and easy wins the race!! If I am ever sick and in the hospital, I hope I am lucky enough to get a nurse just like you!! I hope you had good luck obtaining your lady friend's quilt. So sad that her belongings are being sold off like that.

The blue quilt is so nice! Your work and colors amaze me every time. Keep us posted on the quilt of your neighbor. I surely hope it finds a loving home.

The blue and white quilt looks lovely - and a good size even it it's not quite big enough for a queen bed. And lovely fabric swap. The blocks will come together all in good time. I hope you get the quilt. It still amazes me that people just don't appreciate what they are - you'd think they would at least view it as a blanket!

If I'm ever in hospital, I want a nurse just like you watching over me.

Your blue and white quilt is just stunning, as are all your quilts! And that stitchery is so cute! I hope you can get that quilt too...how sad nobody from the family wanted it.

The blue and white quilt is beautiful. Sometimes I wish I could send mine out, lol. I need to get myself into the sewing room and finish mine.

The redwork is wonderful: I love the message!

Your friends possessions were probably sold because she had designated who was to receive what items. In those cases, an auction is held and the heirs must purchase the items they want. Sadly, my family had to do this after a brother died.

Your blue quilt makes my heart sing. It is beautiful.

Your Jacob's Ladder blocks and your stitchery are gorgeous. Weldone on getting the beautiful blue and white quilt finish. It is so sad about your neighbour's quilt.

Oh, I so hope you get her quilt - I am always just shocked at auctions at the things that are left behind by family members. Love your blue quilt - it is really striking.

I love all of our Jacob's Ladders....they're beautiful! And your sweet little angel friends are so darned cute! Love 'em!

I think I would have to buy just about everything at the estate sale....just because she was so sweet! I really hope you can manage to get the quilt....it sounds amazing, and with such a beautiful story with it! Good luck!

Beautiful blue and white quilt, but I think if we are going to call her "The Bonnie" (which she has earned, most definitely), then she may need a change of hairstyle. I wonder who does "The Donald"?
I love the angel stitchery--almost tempts me to take up stitching again--but I said ALMOST!
Those fabrics from your exchange are luscious--they will look beautiful in the Jacob's Ladder quilt!
There are times, I believe, when the veil between this life and the next is very thin and the peace of the other side can't help but permeate. How lucky you are to feel that.
I hope you are able to get your neighbor's quilt. I am often stunned by what I consider family treasures or heirlooms that no one in a family wants. A legacy is lost and I find that so sad.

I hope you were able to get the neighbor's wedding quilt or...if not...that someone who really appreciates it was the one who bought it. *sigh* I love that blue and white quilt. I've never made one big enough to cover any bed yet...so you are ahead of me if you have one that at least covers a twin bed. Mine are all just throw-sized. Someday, though......

Jacob's Ladder looks great! I'm working on this pattern too - bigger block size than I'm used to, but I'm liking it. I'll keep checking on your progress.

I hope you get the neighbor quilt. I have too many quilts that i know my family won't want them all, but I do have a lot of friends who would appreciate them.
Love your blue and white quilt. Looks like it fits on the bed. That's how all of mine are and I use them on the queen size anyway. :)

Julie, the blue and white quilt is just lovely! I can't wait to see what the JL looks like in the Autumn colors -- it will be beautiful! I can't imagine how you coped with the patient emergencies over and over! That's probably why I'm not a nurse!
