Hi Everyone!! Above is Lori of Humble Quilts doll quilt that she led many of us on...I so love it! It is hand quilted, in the hanging diamonds that Lori suggested, and it turned out really well. I am trying to make very even, small stitches, and am maybe getting a little better...hurrah! I quilted in white thread to contrast with the dark background...the picture is click-able to see the quilting. Thank you, Lori, for the quilt along!
I am putting all the pieces together for the Starry Starry night quilt...and think I will make it bigger, so it will have a nice drape on the queen sized bed. I love this quilt, it is great fun!!

The Hospital:
Our hospital is old, as buildings go these days, in these times. It was built in the early 1950's, and was built on donated land, and all the funds came from community leaders going door to door collecting a dollar here and a dollar there, so that our little town could have a hospital. Now we are a large city...amazing what growth a few years can bring! Anyway...in the hospital where I work, there are old, dark, dungeon like corridors...green linoleum stairways descending into the darkness of the old abandoned basement where surgery was..."haunted" rooms....it is fun to work there and share all the history of births and deaths and amazing things that have happened through the years. We are a big family there, sharing triumphs and sadness...how is it where you work?
Have a great day!
Julie

Julie, I love, love love your doll quilt. The blues, reds and cheddar are wonderful together! You did a great job.
Julie, your doll quilt is precious. I was so tempted to do that quilt along but had too many projects going at the time...maybe next time. Your hand quilting is great.
Love your doll quilt and the quilting is awesome!
The hospital where I work was build by the catholic church in the 1920's and primarily staffed by nuns for many years. It has lots of character!
Your doll quilt is just precious, Julie! And your starry night quilt is going to be one that I'll be coveting. :)
I hadn't quilted mine yet because I wasn't sure what to do for quilting. I think I need to do what you did! I love it!
I love the hand quilted diamonds - great finish to a darling little quilt! I just put the binding on mine...maybe next one I will hand quilt. And you've got another beauty in the works there with the Starry Night!
Great hand quilting, and your blue Stardust is positively resplendent!!
Your doll quilt is really sweet! I love the hanging diamond quilting pattern. I did that on my very first quilt that I machine quilted. Your stitches are looking wonderful. I sort of gave up anything but big, primitive hand quilting...maybe someday I'll give the proper stitch a try again.
My hospital was started by a doc back in the 50's too but at a different location. The building we are in was built in 1972 and has been updated a bit along the way. Essentially it is all on one level so there aren't really any hidden, scary places...just the crazy, makeshift for space in the ER with all our equipment where we can trip over it :-0 We are last in line for a renovation but we are still top of the line for cardiac care and getting pts seen quickly. Yea us! Happy Nurse's Week :-)
Your "Lori" quilt is a good finish. I like that you hand quilted it.
The quilt is beautiful!
My nursing home is 15 years old which is new in UK terms.
The first hospital I worked in, was in Sheffield, UK. It was built in 1890 on the site of an earlier hospital. It had 'Nightingale' wards - long wards with beds down each side and good old-fashioned sluices, plus attics and cellars.
Gorgeous work - color selection and quilting. Great Job!
Love all your quilts.
Hugs from a firt time visitor from Norway. I´will for sure be back;)
The little doll quilt is just lovely!! I love the quilting!!!
I have worked in some very old hospitals, I actually prefer them, they have a lot of character but can be crampt. I trained in a very old hospital in New Zealand, loved the polished timber flooring (not quite up to infection control these days!!), and yes some wards were haunted!!!
Great finish! I never made it past the first step, but perhaps this summer. Love how yours turned out.
Woo-Hoo! The hanging diamond quilting is perfect and so are your stitches!!
Your starry night quilt is going to be fantastic.
I love your doll quilt, Julie - it's darling.
Starry Night is going to be fabulous in blues.
The doll quilt is wonderful! Love the hanging diamonds.
Good going on your blue stars, they are coming along fast!
I work in an old building but it is a 1950's era building in the Moderne style with curved fronts at the entrance and glass block--which unfortunately some dummy in the 80's covered with a false fronted Spanish style stucco and a god awful mansard tile roof. It is built of cement block and has plaster walls and is nice and airy. It used to be a veterinarian's office but now human patients are seen there!
I work in an old 1904 building. Yes, it is really old. It used to be the original movie theater in town. I believe there is a ghost or two, but not scary.
Your little quilt turned out great! love that zippy binding.
The b&w stars are love.
Love your quilts. I would like the pattern for starry starry nights if you don't mind sharing. Thanks MJ
