A special occasion...and some musings...and some winners!!

Hi everyone!! I sure hope you had a wonderful weekend!! You may recall the tiny 4 inch star blocks I was playing with, from the 1.5 inch scrap drawer and the 2.5 inch scrap drawer. Here is what I came up with...pretty bright, huh?!!I used just what I had in there...and here it is, a new doll quilt...thanks Lori for inspiring us all with doll quilts!!
And Darcie!!! And Karen!! You both have recently made afghans...out of what you had left over...yarn on hand. I loved that idea, and had to make one too. So, when my dear husband was watching his news program in the evenings this winter, I would sit down with him and put a row or two on this scrappy afghan. I used a ton of yarn...and the afghan is quite heavy, just right for winter. It will take no prizes in a competition, but was so much fun to make!!

*************A Special Occasion*******************

Guess what? I got to go and see Bonnie Hunter...in person!! What a dynamo...she is full of life and energy , and smiles, quite slim and tall and pretty...and so much fun!! Treat yourself...if you can attend a lecture or workshop of hers, please do...you will just love it!! I got her new book Scraps and Thread tales Two...sigh...there are a dozen quilts in there that I just MUST MAKE. I only had a one day window to go...working all the days around when she was here locally...but I loved just going to see her lecture!

******************************************************

A few musings:

I am just brim full of ideas, and this lecture did not help much...I am floating in quilt ideas!! Too bad I have to work for a living...I could get a lot done if not for that, LOL!!

Ideas:

1. Another plaid quilt like my banner quilt...

2. A row by row quilt, of my own design, influenced by Forest Jane

3. All the quilts in Bonnie's new book!

4. Barters!! I have 3 yards of lovely dark heavy muslin...very dark, for primitive projects, from the quilt shop...do you have a bunch a scraps that you want out of your house? Just e-mail me! Maybe we can barter!!!

****************************Winners!*******************

I cut up all the little pieces of paper with names from all the folks who graciously commented last post...thank you so much all for participating, it is so fun to see who might be reading this!! Random slips were drawn...congratulations to Darlene and to Barb!! Please send me your addresses, and I will mail your books in the AM.

Anyway, lots on my mind lately...how about you?? What are you up to this weekend??

Have a super day!

Julie

I tried to make it to Trinity Valley's meeting to see Bonnie talk but finding parking was next to impossible so instead my friend and I ran a few errands and then went to La Madeleine for lunch.

P.S. Love the little quilt...too cute for words.

Julie you've got the best creative flow going on right now! How exciting. I'm thrilled. Especially when I look at the sawtooth stars. Yummy. Very happy little doll quilt. And boy that's a great afghan you got there. Very pretty bright scrappy colors. LOVE IT. There is nothing like a scrappy afghani (like we call 'em over here) for the winter of the A/C chill, too.

Love your quilts. Just finished Bonnie's Pineapple Blossom quilt, scrap - plaids, homespuns, etc., at our Guild's retreat this weekend. Every time I visit a shop ask if they have scraps, buy plenty. Can share if you want. (Don't need muslin.) Let me know. Robert, in northern Iowa.

Love that bright happy quilt!

You have probably already found someone to swap with, but I have scraps I could get rid of. They certainly don't seem to diminish even after using them! LOL

I love Bonnie and she is such a lovely person. I'm glad you got to meet her.

Love your little quilt and your afghan. The afghans always remind me of my grandmother who stitched one for each of her grandchildren when they got married.

The star quilt is so pretty. You really did an amazing job with that quilt project. The doll quilt is stunning too. I love that you used vibrant colors on that quilt. Keep up the good work and continue to be an inspiration to all the quilters out there! :)

Lots going on here too; must be something in the air! Love, love, love the colors of your stars and that terrific afghan! Well done. Yep, I agree with you, Bonnie is a DYNAMO! She'll love your description of being quite thin, too; but with her energy level how could she be anything but thin?!! I love the way her creative mind works ;)

Ah! I love your scrapghan! Fabulous. I can feel the weight and the warmth from here. Do you remember what hook you used? Is it double crochet? I may have to sit on my hands so that I'm not tempted to start another! ;D

Cute little star quilt! I just love that one.

I have an old afghan that was made of ends of yarn, too, many years ago. Actually, I think my daughter confiscated it. It was so bright and colorful, and yes, heavy!
