civil war blocks, continued...and Hearts for February!

Are you making these blocks? Barbara Brackman is hostessing a Civil War quilt along...one new block every Saturday this year. 52 blocks...hmmm, I need 56 for a 6x7 setting...(Edit!!! Thank you dear Cathy, my math was all screwed up...7x8 would be 56 blocks!! I appreciate you catching that goof!!) I bet I can come up with something! Anyway, I am having such a ball making these blocks!!
Hearts, hearts everywhere!! I was pretty much stuck on hearts, in about 2000...I made tons of heart quilts, large and small. This is by no means all of them...but here are a few. Each has hand quilting on them, as that is what I did then!! So, here is a Valentine's greeting for all of you out there in blog land!
I experiment with my sewing machine, and did a fancy stitch over the seam lines on this one...
I guess this was supposed to be a color wash quilt? I tried to go darkest to lightest...and these fabrics were very much what I had in 1995-2000...flowers, small prints...that is who I was at that time, I guess!
Blues!! blue hearts!!

I am off work today...yahoo! Have done little of anything effective...took a nap even!!! Time to get cracking!!!

Have a super day tomorrow...super bowl Sunday!!

I am not playing along on the Civil War blocks but I am loving everybody else's blocks. Hearts -- I heart hearts. I have only two little heart quilts.

I haven't been making the Civil War blocks, but am storing them for later....I do plan on making it, but maybe not all the blocks. Your heart quilts are wonderful! Very sweet! And I think we all have fabrics like your colorwash (which turned out great, by the way) in our stash.....little by little, we'll use them for something!

Even though I haven't made any of the CW blocks, I've saved the patterns. Your blocks and hearts are great.

Hope this is good news: you only need 42 cw blocks for a 6x7 setting,
49 for a 7x7 setting; but 56 for a 8x7 setting. if you go w/ the 6x7 or the 7x7, you can use the others for pillow tops or on the back.

I enjoyed my visit to your blog and will be back again soon! Blessings, Cathy in MA

Oh that is so fun seeing those older heart quilts. Isn't it fun to look at old fabric! I'm loving the civil war blocks. I should start making them now before I get too far behind!

Nope, not doing the CW BOM but these are sure pretty!

Love all the heart quilts, what a fun collection. It is interesting to see what a vast array of choices we have now as compared to 15 years ago!

Hope you are feeling better and getting some sleep!

I've just discovered your blog from one I visit regularly. I see you have been doing Barbara Brackman's blocks as well, yours look great! And your DJ!!!, I have been wanting to start that for ages, have most of the fabric collected for quite some time, but that's what I lack - time!!! I'll check you out again, your blog is just lovely!

Very sweet heart quilts! I've been following the Civil War blocks, but haven't started them yet. I've been working on my Farmer's Wife and need a rest from small blocks, but I can always catch up later. I love how yours look!
