Pieces and parts

Hi everyone!! I have finished all the blocks for the Bonnie Quiltville mystery! Including the alternate neutral string blocks...but I chose not to use them, as mine were really bulky with the fabric foundation. Instead, I played around with all the pieces and parts and came up with this. I made cornerstones of some of the border strips, kind of a nine patch....I just love that, and the graphic nature of the red zig-zags...love it all!! It is a saturated with color quilt, to me...and the neutral pieces kind of glow! Altogether, just a really fun quilt. Thank you, Bonnie!
Close up...I still have to make a border of the pieces and parts...that is yet to come.
Lori of Humble Quilts is having a doll quilt-a-long!! She posted another step today, and I am done with that...come on next step!! This is proving such a fun quilt to make...would you like to join us???

Have a great day!!!

Julie

Gorgeous -- the sashing sets off those triangles so beautifully!

Yes, it is a great-looking quilt. Is it made completely from scraps?

Your layout looks fantastic, I love how you put the pink in the sashing.

I love it! I haven't done the string blocks (still piecing the blocks)as I don't have many strings,so I've been contemplating what to do instead of them. You hit it right on. Your sashing looks great and I too, love the red spikes! Over all it's just a beautiful quilt!

Yippee....I love your RRCB! That is wonderful! I was needing to modify the plan, because there is nothing king-sized in my house.....and didn't know if I was going to make fewer blocks (which is impossible until you get to the end to know what you need), or less borders, or something! And I was hoping to see some options from others....but no need to look further....yours is the ONE! I'm loving that the sashing strip sits next to all those 1/2 square seams....cuz I was really dreading the string blocks up against that, and dealing with a million seams together! This takes that out....very sweet! I'm so glad I waited after step 2!

Am keeping notes of Humble Quilts quilt-along....can't do it yet, but definitely will!

Thanks for all your inspiration!

What a great variation! You came up with some nice ideas for added sashing and cornerstones. It really helps pull it together.
Did you hear I won Bonnie's new book? :-) I better get busy organizing my scraps!

Wow! You're amazing! I love the blocks you finished and you're making such great progress on your new doll quilt! I on the other hand, didn't sew at all today.

I did work, just not sewing. =)

Even without the string blocks, this quilt is a stunner! I decided to play catch up and will have Lori's blocks done tomorrow.

Love the direction your RRCB mystery is taking! I am not doing the string blocks so have to figure out what I'll do. I am not even close to making that decision yet!

Wow, great sweeping roll in another direction--love it! The string blocks never caught my fancy but they sure used up a lot of people's scraps!

I saw the doll quilt along but just can't commit now. I'll just ooh and aah over yours, k?

That is a winter warmer quilt, don't you think? just wonderful, vibrant and colourful.

That quilt will add colour to a dreary winter. Can't wait to see it with the border. I would love to join Lori's little project but alas I have to sit on my hands for the moment.

Wow! That is one bright quilt! Funny you did yours without the other blocks because I was wondering if that would work or would be too busy. I see now that it works great! :0)

Absolutely wonderful!!!! Looks so different without the blocks but it works! I've got several other things going on but I'm planning on doing RRCB soon. Thanks for sharing.

I love that quilt, it is beautiful and a lot of piecing.
Once I feel more comfortable piecing and actually finishing things, I want to make more detailed quilts.
