Hi everyone!! I have finished all the blocks for the Bonnie Quiltville mystery! Including the alternate neutral string blocks...but I chose not to use them, as mine were really bulky with the fabric foundation. Instead, I played around with all the pieces and parts and came up with this. I made cornerstones of some of the border strips, kind of a nine patch....I just love that, and the graphic nature of the red zig-zags...love it all!! It is a saturated with color quilt, to me...and the neutral pieces kind of glow! Altogether, just a really fun quilt. Thank you, Bonnie!
Close up...I still have to make a border of the pieces and parts...that is yet to come.
Lori of Humble Quilts is having a doll quilt-a-long!! She posted another step today, and I am done with that...come on next step!! This is proving such a fun quilt to make...would you like to join us???
Have a great day!!!
Julie

I love your layout for RRCB!!
You're RRCB really sparkles. I like your setting. I'm doing Lori's quiltalong, too. Such fun!
Gosh, that is one bright quilt...love it.
Gorgeous -- the sashing sets off those triangles so beautifully!
Yes, it is a great-looking quilt. Is it made completely from scraps?
That is one terrific quilt, as usual for you. The color is so vivid and happy!
Your quilt is like jewels! A beauty!!
Your layout looks fantastic, I love how you put the pink in the sashing.
Wow - that looks terrific!
I love it! I haven't done the string blocks (still piecing the blocks)as I don't have many strings,so I've been contemplating what to do instead of them. You hit it right on. Your sashing looks great and I too, love the red spikes! Over all it's just a beautiful quilt!
Yippee....I love your RRCB! That is wonderful! I was needing to modify the plan, because there is nothing king-sized in my house.....and didn't know if I was going to make fewer blocks (which is impossible until you get to the end to know what you need), or less borders, or something! And I was hoping to see some options from others....but no need to look further....yours is the ONE! I'm loving that the sashing strip sits next to all those 1/2 square seams....cuz I was really dreading the string blocks up against that, and dealing with a million seams together! This takes that out....very sweet! I'm so glad I waited after step 2!
Am keeping notes of Humble Quilts quilt-along....can't do it yet, but definitely will!
Thanks for all your inspiration!
What a great variation! You came up with some nice ideas for added sashing and cornerstones. It really helps pull it together.
Did you hear I won Bonnie's new book? :-) I better get busy organizing my scraps!
Absolutely beautiful. I am doing the same mystery, just started putting it together. Yours is just gorgeous!
Wow! You're amazing! I love the blocks you finished and you're making such great progress on your new doll quilt! I on the other hand, didn't sew at all today.
I did work, just not sewing. =)
Julie,
I love this! What a great quilt.
Even without the string blocks, this quilt is a stunner! I decided to play catch up and will have Lori's blocks done tomorrow.
Oh your RRCB is fabulous - so pretty.
Gotta love your pieces and parts. :-)
Love the direction your RRCB mystery is taking! I am not doing the string blocks so have to figure out what I'll do. I am not even close to making that decision yet!
That layout looks great! Amazing how a simple addition changes the look. I love it!
Hi Julie, Sorry it has been so long since I last stopped by. You have been very busy while I was MIA. Love the new quilt...the color and the layourt.
Just awesome!!
Your quilt looks beautiful!
Oh my, that is stunning!!! Love it!
Kristie
Wow, great sweeping roll in another direction--love it! The string blocks never caught my fancy but they sure used up a lot of people's scraps!
I saw the doll quilt along but just can't commit now. I'll just ooh and aah over yours, k?
Julie, that is truly stunning....
That is a winter warmer quilt, don't you think? just wonderful, vibrant and colourful.
That quilt will add colour to a dreary winter. Can't wait to see it with the border. I would love to join Lori's little project but alas I have to sit on my hands for the moment.
Wow! That is one bright quilt! Funny you did yours without the other blocks because I was wondering if that would work or would be too busy. I see now that it works great! :0)
Absolutely wonderful!!!! Looks so different without the blocks but it works! I've got several other things going on but I'm planning on doing RRCB soon. Thanks for sharing.
I love you're quilt, really love it. What a big work, but what an awsome quilt.
I LOVE it Julie!! It is so colorful and fun!! And you still have your string blocks for another project.
I'll post step 3 on Friday..lookin' good!
Ohhh this one is so super pretty!!!
Julie that quilt is gorgeous!! It does glow!! :) You do awesome work, my friend. :)
Although I loved Boonie's orginal setting, I love your alternate setting too! Does this mean I have to make two? I am adding your post to the file on this project.
Love this variation!
Wow what a fantastic quilt, lovin' the layout!!!
Sue...
I really love the way you did your quilt, wish I had thought of it!
This is a totally awesome quilt. You amaze me with all you get done!
My best,
Anett
Love what you did with Bonnie's pattern! It sings!
I love that quilt, it is beautiful and a lot of piecing.
Once I feel more comfortable piecing and actually finishing things, I want to make more detailed quilts.
Debbie
Oh heavens - that is gorgeous!!
OH, Julie, this looks great. Will love to see how you do the border. I have yet to start on it.
This is such a beauty...lots of work, but so worth it. I hope to work on my Midnight Star project today, after I vacuum and start some laundry. Yours is looking good!
Love your punchy and fun RRCB - your Quilt along is coming along!
Love your layout for your RRCB! This is one beautiful quilt!
I love your version of the mystery quilt! Great job *s*
