Dear Jane: I have not visited you for a couple weeks, and when I do...you are difficult! The sewing was great fun, but these blocks are not easy for me. A stretching...a growing is occurring! I know they are not perfect, but I love these blocks anyway....I am on row three, and sewing it together as I go.
The days crop of Klosjes...I love the blue ones the best!!

What am I up to? Quilting has been put on the back back burner for quite some time now...I have a small one that I pick up from time to time for some hand quilting.
Yesterday I completed a double page layout for scrapbooking.
Working (and enjoying) in the yard with the many flowers seems to be occupying a lot of my time.
Also probably spending more time that I should on the computer.
Good for you working on something that makes you work hard and do something outside your comfort zone! I'm working on my Polka Dot Girls now. Hope to have it all done by the end of the month instead of the end of the year! :0)
Your blocks look wonderful and I admire you for doing them. I quit my DJ after row 2! My orphan blocks became a little wallhanging. I am working on a Schnibbles X2 quilt.
The only time I've been in my sewing room was to clean it up before company! I am planning to start a new project the week before the Sisters show.

Hi Julie, those DJ blocks are definitely challenging. I have been enjoying hand piecing 6" blocks. Today, however, I quilted a little quilt for a friend. She always seems to open Christmas gifts in January so I'm giving her a snowman quilt for her birthday in June...just in time for next winter :-) I quilted snowflakes today!
Dear Jane is looking good. I have finished mapping out my Mariner's Compass. So after vacation will finish putting it together.
I like the brown plaid on the bottom row. I have 3 quilts going and 2 books and you know I'd have it no other way.
Sometimes going back to those difficult ones can be painful yet rewarding. Good for you for going back, they look great! I am working on a strip quilt and will have the post up in the morning. Rough at first, but rewarding now!
I SHOULD be working on the dear Jane that is sitting there... but they do get hard. No, mine are not perfect either, but neither are hers, I keep reminding myself. Plus with so very many blocks, there is more room for imperfection...er, character.
How do you prep for doing your Klosjes??? They are wonderful! I can't wait to see the whole quilt.

Really lovely, it nice to catch up with how you are going with your spools as I did one too.They are lovely I think we will do a swap next year for our group.This year we are doing Ninepatches.
I am finishing the last border(yippie) for a BOM, Under the Southern Stars it is by Sue Daly, paper piecing.One day it will be mine , but for now it must go to the quilt shop I work at as a sample.I really love it.

OH my gosh.....I just ran across your blog and am absolutely in love with the quilt on your title page (homespun fabrics). Do you happen to remember the name of the quilt pattern? I want to try my hand at making this one as a christmas gift.

I love your projects, the klosjes are fab!. I just went through my list that I made in Jan, I crossed off 3 as completely finished, and moved 5 over to the "needs quilted" list, and then pulled out a Christmas top this a.m. and spent 10 minutes putting it on the design wall. Reading my list made me aware of this project and it too, is very close to going over to the "needs quilted" list. I just finished piecing my Liberated Amish top with Free form letters around it.
The spool blocks look great, I love the fabrics. I've got to get back working on my wool stitchery.

Your Klosjes are adorable, Julie. So much character in all of the prints and plaids. And yes...the blues just seem to add the right amount of sparkle, don't they!

Your little Klosjes (spools) are adorable and the blue, that 'doesn't go' is THE best - I agree. I've found that the fabrics that 'don't match' in a scrappy quilt are nearly always the blocks that make it come alive. I have a mess of Churn Dashes where I went 'wild' with a few blocks, and yes, they are the best ones. Yours is coming along and going to be beautiful.
