This quilt is gone to the dogs!

This started off as a wonderful idea...I tried to make a bit different, a bit unique. Well, it certainly is unique! I have tucks of at least 1/2 inch in every corner. It was a nicely done quilt top, and I thought I would try ONE LAST TIME to quilt on my domestic machine. It is pretty well ruined...so the dog gets this one! I still need to sew down the binding...at least that will be done well!! I am going to try again with this pattern, I loved making the stars.

Oh well...you can't win them all! But...this is my last attempt at machine quilting, at least on my little machine.

Have a wonderful weekend, and for you girls sewing in the Spring Sewing event...enjoy!!

Maybe I'm missing something here...it looks fantastic to me...how is it ruined exactly? I think it's pretty!

It looks great in the picture. I can't believe how quickly you accomplish things and you work full time.

It looks fine to me. Why don't you fold it up and put it in the closet for two weeks. When you take it out again you will look at it from a fresh perspective, and you may not even notice what the rest of us can't even see. Not that I want to deprive your dogs of a quilt, of course. :>} I LOVE the blue and yellow sampler posted below. When I read that you just have a little yellow left I had to smile. Soon you'll be dashing to the store for the yellow that you'll undoubtedly need for a summer project!

You know, when you work at something for awhile, it does get frustrating and you just have to walk away. The quilt is very pretty, and I am sure the dogs would love it, but please give it a few weeks like the others have said before you toss it to them. Maybe one of your quilting buddies can help you see what you are doing wrong that is causing the tucks. My guess it is in the way you basted the quilt together before quiltin it or not squaring up the corners before you basted it together. Hang in there, you can do it, I know you can!

Looks great in the picture.

Did you use a walking foot on your machine?

Following on Amelia's comment, I was told once that a walking foot is a quilter's best friend. I didn't understand until I got one!

I was curious to know the name of this pattern! Please let me know if you know the name~ Thanks :)

Julie, It looks beautiful from here! I bet it isn't as bad as you think. I say wash it up and the whole quilt will shrink and wrinkle. You won't even see the tucks then. Give it a try.

What a shame you aren't happy with it. It looks fine in the photo and I agree with the previous comment, maybe once it's washed it will look better. If not, well the dogs will be very warm and comfy.

It looks great in the picture! I'm sure the dogs will be thrilled! Do you have a walking foot for your machine? I had all kinds of trouble until I got mine. I even use it to sew down my binding! :0)

Ah sorry you feel like your quilting isn't working. How are you basting? Do you use a walking foot for quilting?
The quilt looks terrific!!

In the photo it does look good, but if it doesn't look right to you, you will not be happy with it being out somewhere, I know. I love the stars, though.

I've never been brave enough to do my own machine-quilting.

The top is lovely!

Your quilt looks great in the picture. I think we are too hard on ourselves sometimes. I'm sure your dogs will love it. Don't give on on machine quilting. I know until I got a walking foot my line quilting was aweful (tried twice and gave up), I am still very critical of my quilting, but keep practicing...both line quilting and free motion. I keep telling myself, practice makes (well, almost) perfect, right?

Dear friend, I'm not sure I'm seeing what is wrong with this pretty quilt. I'm sorry to be painful but I don't get it?

I find there is always someone who wants a quilt I don't want, no matter how much I have messed up.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with the quilting on your lovely little quilt. I would agree with the walking foot commenters~ I love my walking foot. ;-) And your blue/yellow quilt is gorgeous! Sorry you had to put up with a jerk at work... ;-)

I think it looks great!! Very pretty! I have a few of my quilts that have pleats and puckers in them too, they are the ones that I use everyday and let the kids drag around.

Oh no!!! I know that you love your furbaby and grand furbaby...but no! I think it looks great! How about just washing it and kind of giving it a scrunchy, lived-in loved-in look?!

Some darned lucky dogs is what I have to say! Your way too hard on yourself!!! Can't you find a little nook for a splash of color?

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
