Snow bound

It is snowing hard here in Texas! Lovely, large floating flakes. So pretty! Of course, this spoken from a girl at home, already been to the store and to Weight Watchers, and I am in for the evening. I just have to worry until dear husband makes it home, then it is all fun!! Above is a signature block. When our darling son married his sweetheart last year, I had all the guests sign a signature quilt block. Some of them are quite hilarious in what they said! Anyway, I am trying to decide how to put them together for the happy couple. Please, any ideas are so welcome! You all are a fountain of knowledge, and I recognize and thank you for that!!
Here are all the signature square laid out. What do you think? I did kind of patriotic fabrics...
The blue and yellow monster progress. This is so much fun, but now is in the stage that it is work, effort to keep going and not let it become a UFO. You know the stage, where other projects call out to you and this is a big job, and, and, and!! I refuse to yield to that, I love this quilt so much, and I am determined to GETERDUN!!

************************Health*************************************

Guess what? My hospital is offering Weight Watchers free to it's employees. Guess the hospital thought they had a bunch of big heifers running around...anyway, I am going...and it is a great thing! Just when should I lose the weight if not now? When I am 90 years old and can't eat? When I already have diabetes? or heart disease? NO...this is my time...my time is NOW!!

So...drum roll please...I lost 3 pounds my first week. So good show, and I am so excited to reach my goal. Now, I am not huge...but not skinny as I used to be either, so I am going to gain health as I lose weight.

********************************************************************************

Thanks for listening...Have a most wonderful day!

Julie

The signature blocks are a great idea! Would it be too simple to put some plain squares between them? Maybe in the same colors as the signature blocks have? Just a thought. :0)

Those signature block look great! And it's a great idea; I agree with Terry.
Maybe it's best if you use a fabric the same colours as the signatue blocks, or something with stars (as your children are ofcourse stars to you....! ^-^ ..)
Love your blue and yellow "monster"!
Applause for your loss of weight!! And enjoy the snow!!

Julie, the signature quilt will be around your son's place for ever because of the wishes and names. Any way, you lay it out will be pleasing.

Blue and Yellow Monster- just getting prettier each day.

Just heard where your area had over 5 inches of snow and was scheduled to get more.

Be careful if you have to go out.

I really like your signature blocks, I agree Terry's idea for plain squares. Your blue and yellow quilt is really coming along and looks great too.
and way to go for taking care of yourself..so many people in the care giving business are so busy taking care of others they forget themselves.

Great "deal" about the hospital providing free WW....NO excuses when you can go for free!!! Love the blue/yellow quilt. AND....for the signature block quilt, I think squares in the same color as the floor where you have it laid out would be good. I"m thinking solid is best, too....but don't think you'd want blue or red...would you? Once I saw a beige fabric with VERY SMALL navy blue and red stars and that would have looked nice, too.

Your yellow and blue sampler is looking wonderful. Keep up the good work. You will be so glad that you stuck with it. The siggie blocks are so cute. I love how you pieced them. I think they would look wonderful as centers of sawtooth stars. Weight Watchers is an awesome program and how lucky that you get to do it for free. Congrats on your first week. I love how they teach health and healthy eating. It really isn't a diet, it is how we should eat always. My husband and I did it together and became lifetime members.

I love your signature blocks. I don't know how complicated you want to go with your design but quilter's cache has a couple signature block ideas. Here is one of them. http://www.quilterscache.com/S/SignatureStarBlock.html

It's a lot of work but would be really beautiful

This is the oddest winter I can remember. You're getting snow and we have none on the ground! Hope this weather doesn't last too long for you!
The signature quilt is a great idea -- and will be a wonderful treasure!

What if you did plain setting squares in red or blue ? Or what if you did red in the center like a 3x4 and used blue for the outer setting squares? Does that make sense?
The blue and yellow is coming along so quickly!! Almost to the finish line on that one!!
Congratulations on joining WW. WW is working with a lot of employers to start a meeting and I think it's great!! Good luck!

Congratulations on your wweight loss!!! I love the signature blocks--great idea. I like the way they are laid out now---, maybe a contrasting color in between?

Good for you, Julie. Three pounds in a week is super and so is your attitude.

You are definitely in the home stretch with your "blue and yellow" monster. It's going to look smashing.

I believe Jo Morton has a book out on signature blocks and the various ways you can piece them. You might want to check it out just to see what other options you might have. It was a great idea, BTW.

I think the on point setting looks great! But I would probably choose something like a mottled solid for plain alternate squares (like Moda Marbles, for instance), maybe in navy?

You are SO close on your sampler, keep going! It's a beauty.

Congrats on weight loss! Employers are finally getting savvy, all right.

How big do you want the siggy quilt to be? DO you want to (are you willing to) add alternating blocks or unsigned blocks? I like the idea of sewing 4 of them together to make a "framed with signatures" pinwheel... (Clear as mud?)

What about alternate log cabin blocks...great for using up scraps!
Love that blue/yellow quilt! We won't let it become a UFO...your blog readers love it too much :)

LOVE this signature blocks! Your blue and yellow 'monster' is fabulous. I can't wait to see it finished.

Isn't that the truth. The snow and storms are always more enjoyable when we know our loved ones are safe and accounted for.

Good for you! And what a fabulous offer from your hospital to all of its employees. It surely is a win-win situation. I've always felt that America needs to focus more on just good diet sense instead of diet-ing. This I say, as I'm drinking my coffee. hehe Moderation, right? ;-)

I love the signature blocks!!! I remember you talking about them. What about a nice, solid-reading plaid for the alternate blocks?...since plaid is sort of your *signature.* ;-)

Snowy hugs!

Wow, love the signature blocks. I made a quilt for my SIL to have signed at her 50th...but she didn't. Oh well...
Your blue & yellow is looking gorgeous.
Good luck with your weight loss. I have just had glucose tolerance test so hope it is ok!

Your quilts are very inspiring. Is the sampler from a pattern or are you making it up as you go? Also love the quilt in your header. Congrats on the weight loss.

I cannot believe how amazing your sampler quilt is. It's just such a stunning piece of work, Julie. I'm speechless. It makes me think in terms of an award, a testament, something that really stands as a real signpost showing off your talent. I love it for that.

Now girl OMG the signature blocks are fantastic and I'm jumping for joy and tumbling this way and that. Love these, dig the layout. Wow!!!

Your blue and yellow quilt is going to be awesome! I"m loving how you are putting all those blocks together!

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
