Doggies! and a giveaway!

Hello!  I am up to 8 dog blocks.  These are found at Sew Fresh Quilts!  These are a bit labor intensive, I must say, and have pieces that are one inch square before you piece them.  Straightforward sewing, but time consuming...I like the baby dogs, though!

Lori, at Humble quilt, is concluding her sew along...I am in the middle of it.  Above are my little blocks in progress.

A lady at work wanted some drawstring bags, so I experimented on where to put the draw string casing.  I like the one on the right better.

I was discussing rotary cutting blades the other day, and a wise someone said...how about your cutting mat?  So here is mine!  I am tossing it...those grooves are just too worn for accuracy.  How is your cutting mat??  It doesn't do me any good to have a new rotary cutting blade if my mat is like this!

Now, if you have hung around this long reading...how about a give away?  I have this pattern in duplicate...so I will have a drawing for anyone who leaves a comment!

Have a great day!

Oh yes, such cute dogs! I love the pattern you have offered for the giveaway. Pumpkins and birds are some of my favorite things to piece, so both of them together is a win-win!

Your dogs are so cute! I made one as a pillow years ago--now I want to make more! Would love to win the pattern--love that bird!

Sweet dogs! You definitely need a new mat! Try not to use the lines for cutting and your new mat will last longer.

I am planning a wedding quilt with a Halloween/fall theme, I know a bit strange, but the bride to be loves Halloween. The patter could be great for r the center. Those dogs are going to make someone very happy. Hope nursing is getting easier for you. Dotti in CT

Flip the mat over and use the back. Of course it won’t have the markings, but it will extend the life of your mat. Love the puppy blocks!

It's definitely time for a new mat. I'd be repurposing it though - cut smaller mats from the parts that are still good, use bits to reinforce the bottom of bags, etc.

Its funny.... I like the second drawstring bag best also!

never even thought about how much difference dropping the string casing down would make. And not that hard to make that little change.

And now I have to go look at my cutting matt and maybe flip it over like Tired Teacher said.

I bought a much needed new cutting mat last year. A really cute one the Lori Holt designed.

Those puppies are cute! My mat gets looking horrible too—not bad at the moment:). Love that pattern with the pumpkin and birdie! You are always so sweet to stitch items for coworkers. I didn’t do Lori’s sewalong since I was so busy getting ready for my retreat. Lots of great versions on social media.

I was keeping watch over Lori’s quilt along, hoping to join in. I never came up with the free time. Maybe sometime soon?
Your projects in progress look great so far!

The dog blocks are adorable, love them! Yep, time to replace the cutting mat. They are expensive and I try to use one as long as I can but the grooves interfere with accuracy. The pumpkin pattern is so cute, I would love to win it, thanks for the chance!

Julie, is your cutting mat reversible? You might get another bunch of years' use of it if it is.
Love your stars and the drawstring bag, esp. the one on the right.
No need to include me in the drawing, thanks anyway.

Love the adorable puppies.
I finally got my top from Lori's SAL put together, but don't know when it will get quilted.
The drawstring bag on the right gets my vote, too.
Oh, I used to always let my mat get really bad before switching it out. I am a little more proactive that way now, and I think it does make a difference.

The dogs are cute. I've thought about making those so many times, and the cats, too. Drawstring on the right pic, I agree. Love the pattern, so thanks for the chance to win it. For those of us who don't win, do you have the information for where to buy it? I haven't looked at Lori's blog for a long time, since I quit working on the Cheri Payne quilt, probably. I should go see what she's up to. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm in for the chance on the free pumpkin pattern.

I have my humble quilt a-long with Lori done and working on quilting it. Used scraps to put it together.

The dog blocks are really cute.
My mat looks a lot like yours so maybe it is time to replace it. Thanks for reminding me.
I would love a chance to win the pattern. I saw this one on FB the other day and thought it was the cutest. Thank you for your giveaway.

Cute puppies! Changing cutting mats is kinda like changing blades on cutter. Wait way too long and then wonder why I waited so long. lol

I also like the drawstring bag on the right. The pups are very cute.
My mat is also worn but not as bad. It looks like you use your mat for the cutting lines. I can have my fabric anywhere and use the ruler for measuring giving less cuts in one spot.

Cute doggies, with lots of pieces!!
The pumpkin pattern looks great!!

Your dogs are too cute. Mats are expensive, sorry about that. I saved mine with a good tool that evens it out and then soaked it in the tub. I did learn it was my fault for the groove. I was cutting at an angle not straight. The blades must be straight down. Now I pay attention, maybe you are like me a little off.

Well, Lets give it a try.
Love to win this Pattern, but……I live in the Netherlands.
I hope this is not a problem.
Like your drawstring bags.
Right is the most beautifull one.

Am happy not to be included in the giveaway, have way too many projects on my wish list already.

What does the other side of your mat look like. May be you can just turn it over and still use it. Love the pumpkin pattern!

Like your Doggies. I finished my Humble quilts project, but it doesn't look like hers. Hugs

Those doggies are sew cute, and sew is that pattern. Love what you are doing there.

Did you know that you can turn the cutting mat over? It won't have the 1 inch lines, but it still works.
